Stepmoms are always perceived to be evil, mean and abusive to their stepkids. I am one of the many stepmothers around and it amazes me when people act so surprised upon knowing that I did not conceive these 3 children physically....

jillbeth I raised three stepchildren, and although I made a lot of mistakes, they knew I cared about them and was there for them when their own mother wasn't. Now they are my best friends! I think perceptions have changed because there are just so many more stepmoms...

Torn... To tell or not to tell?

My stepchildren's mom recently was arrested for a bouncing check case. She is now out on bail. She has confided in me and asked me to promise not to tell the kids. Naturally, the kids wouldn't know about it as long as no one tells...

EagleEyes I wouldn't tell them. If they do eventually find out and question you as to why you didn't tell them, just tell them that you made a promise and you kept that promise because you didn't want to hurt them.
