At what age do you think it is appropiate to get a child a cell phone?

My 10 year old daughter has been begging for one for two years already!! I don't see the need since she is always with an adult, but know other parents that have purchased one for their child at this age. What do you think?

kmeyne The rule in my house is 13. My two older daughters didn't have one until their 13th birthdays and the younger two are already asking, my reply, for your 13th birthday.

kmeyne I just have my children send a letter through USPS TO Santa Claus at the North Pole and someone sends them a card back. It's free, other than a stamp, and thoughtful of the USPS people!

kmeyne I do several things from home. I am a rep for Stuff-N-Snuggle and Kat's Coffees & More and am looking at opening my own internet store for children's clothing. I also am a waha, a work at home (call) agent. I take calls at home and process orders.

kmeyne I hate socks and shoes. I would go barefoot all year round if possible. But as I live in IN it is very cold here in the winter. So I wear socks when my feet get to cold but once I have warmed up under the covers I have to take them off. Drives my hubby crazy...
