i hv vista original version but xp only pirated version. pirations are very common in india. dont feel bad for it. but some other demerits like you cant have IE 8 or more, cant upgrade media player 11 or above etc. i hv IE 8 in my vista but not in pirated xp....

I'm not sure about every provider but Verizon has an option (for a couple dollars a month, I don't know how much for sure) where you can back up everything (contacts, text messages, photos....) to your online account.
