machaosz This is a very good question. If a particular individual's reason for being happy is the wealth of material things then money can certainly buy happiness. If one is happy with abstract things, then it will be the other way around.

machaosz My secret to being happy is not entertaining thoughts or reasons which will make me sad. Another thing also which is important to being happy is contentment. These two, if combined, will make one happy. This is what I think.
