Women in the Bible are disrespected

The Bible was written at a time when women were not viewed as being equal to men, however, the Bible is supposed to be God's word. Does this mean that God believes that women are lower or lesser beings than men?

What do you think of Hugh Laurie of the TV show House? Is he hot or what? I can't decide if I like him or hate him sometimes.
