Bad breaths /Halitosis

How would you tell a friend or a co-worker that he's got a halitosis or bad breath without being offensive? HAs anyone encountered this at work or anywher? How did he/she react to it?

newyork06 You're right, it is quite difficult to be in this situation. Is it really hard to hurt a friend? Goodness, it needs courage to do so! Like what had Scroutz & Superwoobie mentioned, it wont make him/her happy at all.
