optran Defrag doesnt bring more space, a diskcleanup will help you free up HDD space. A diskdefragger only puts fragmented files back together to speed up data access. Since the HDD is otherwise the slowest component in the data chain, its important to defrag...

Defrag- How often?

Do you defrag your computer at regular intervals?Monthly once or yearly once?Or you just defrag when you feel your computer to be slower than normal?Is it necessary to defrag at regular intervals or when it needs to be?

optran I have automated the process by installing Diskeeper on the job. It defrags silently without causing resource conflict, in the background. Also defrags the MFT, defrags even if the drive has less than 15% free space and has a great GUI.

optran Vista is scheduled to defrag at particular intervals in the background, and i doubt if there is any way you can figure out the progress of the defrag as it lacks a visual display as in XP.I've switched to an automatic defragmenter that runs in the background...
