What happens to all that trash?

Like UPS, Waste Management trucks can be seen in every town and city in the USA. I wonder where all that trash ends up? I know that many communities recycle, glass, aluminum and paper, but what happens to the trash and garbage?

I don't, it's a pain. All that paperwork, and in a language that's hard to understand. All those forms, booklets, etc. must cost a fortune to publish. Why not a simple one page flat tax/
