Do You Like Tan Skin?

Different preference in different countries. For Chinese, we have so many commercials to bombard us with whitening our skin and the tradition make us believe that having paler skin is more attractive and beautiful. But in European countries or the states, they love their skin tan because they think it looks healthier and more lively. What do you think?
I personally have tan skin and I really love it, because I do think I look more lively! I just love to look sun-kissed all the time.

Hello, wondericequeen,i do not have tanned skin but i think women with tanned skin look nice, they look very healthy.I can see some of my Asian friends who are brought up here have beatiful tan,i reckon it is something inborn as well.
I think Asians people have very beatiful skins, not only because of tan but they are also very smooth without any freckles.

Right, tan skin does look smooth. But somehow the Asian ladies would prefer to have "white" skin! How funny the world is sometimes when I see them putting on a lot of stuff in the hopes to whiten their skin up!

I think diet as well as genetics play a big role in how smooth skin looks. I have noticed that people who eat a lot of that healthy fish seem to have very smooth skin. I think chinese people tend to use more natural skin care products to cleanse and take care of their skin.

First of all, i love the color of my skin. I just wish it's more even. Asians tend to have a little uneven skin tone. But what's more amazing is, Asians are totally obsessed with these skin-whitening products that it's just unbelievable. My mom's friend came up to me and looked at me sympathetically and said.. Poor thing. You're so dark. Why don't you try this bla bla bla bleaching method. *blink blink*
I don't have a preference actually. I like people the way their skin naturally is. Like, if you're white, or yellow or black, or brown.. whatever it is, it would look great on you. Because I really can't stand seeing people with fake tans and bleached faces. To protect the innocent, I won't name names. (Victoria Beckham and Micheal Jackson). *laughs*

*laughs* I agree! As long as Mother Nature gives that to us, we should learn to appreciate it and love it but not changing it dramatically to something else. Oh my god, what you quoted are on the extremes!

It is funny how most asians want their skin to be fairer & whiter while americans & europeans lay out for hours under the sun to get tanned skin.*smile* I have naturally tanned skin and most of the times I encounter americans come up to me and say that my skin looks really good. Most Filipinas dream of having whiter skin but I'm not one of them, I just want my skin to be evenly toned.

Being one of those people who can hardly even get a tan, I have to say tan skin usually looks a lot better. I've seen very few people with really white skin that looked good.
I'm surprised anyone's trying to "whiten" the Chinese. Whose bright, and probably expensive, idea, was that? What a waste. I had a Chinese girlfriend who definitely had beautiful natural skin.

Wow! That's vandalism! The only way I know to "bleach" yourself involves things like peroxide, or other, equally dangerous, chemicals. Or maybe they've found another use for liquid paper?

Your post is so cute and makes me actually smile! If I were in Australia, I would probably be able to get a really good nice tan (like honey-color). Yes we do have products to "whiten" our skin and so many girls are after them (they're pretty white already!), it's amazing!

I think people like tans as it gives them more of a healthy glow instead of a pale unhealthy look although I prefer to use the fake stuff as the statistics of skin cancer is rising so I'll stick with the safe option!

I am tan and trying to be fair... hahaha. We filipinas always wanted to look fair. You won't like it if you are short, kinky hair and brown... you will be like the aborigines. Well, at least I don't have kinky hair.

Yup, I love my skin. White people loves tanned skin people ;) I don't know, maybe I guess it looks more radiant, sexy and hot. That's why they love to sun bathe all the time, even if they don't really get tanned at all, lol. Tan is sexy!

In India we have lot of creams and cosmetics to look white or for skin whitening. My skin is or tan color and i don't use any cosmetics to whiten my skin. I guess its healthier being tan.

I agree and I do think the Indians' skin colors are very nice, they look kind of like honey! I am tan too and in Asia, we have the "whitening" products" too but I never use them, I think tan is more ME!

Hello wondericequeen, i like to have tan skin, even i want my face to be white. For my face , tan skin is more suitable. I don't really care about the color, i need a healthy skin, because all color is can more shining if you have healthy skin.

I get tan easily and actually I don't mind getting tan, but it doesn't look quite good on me though! lol
I once got so tan in a summer holiday when I was in college (I did that on purpose!) that my friends don't even recognise me, cause they don't believe that I would get that tan, and they said they could really associate me with a person looked that tan!
Even though I don't mind getting tan, I prefer my skin to be fairer in the winter, just because I have that silly believe that tan skin goes well with summer while fair skin belongs to winter! lol

*laughs* so funny! But I shared the same belief! I like to get tanner in the summer time while for the winter time, I think fairer skin will look great, I guess it's because of the clothing colors in the winter times. It's just dark enough and makes me don't want to get any darker.

I get tanned easily but to my experience, I was not quite suitable to that. That makes my face looked dull. I think Europeans look good with tanned skin since most of them have sharper face contours. Some Asians look good with tanned skin too but it really depends on the tone - pinkish bronze is way much better than yellowish bronze. I think most guys look better with tanned skin.

I have to agree with prashantrjp. I think that people look their most beautiful when they retain their natural skin color. I don't particularly think people should bleach their skin. A sun kissed natural color is good. I think people in with all skin tones from ivory to a deep black are beautiful. We all have to love ourselves without bleaching our skin.

I prefer the look of tanned skin myself, but being white I don't tan all that often because I find that if I tan alot I will start to notice new moles (or beauty marks as some people call them.....I don't think they are beautiful) and I don't like that. I have considered trying one of the new moistureizer that help you get a fake tan over time, but you have to use it on your face too and I don't want to stop useing my regular face cream.
