Is it ever OK to hit a man "there?"

A friend of mine and I got into this discussion, and I was wondering what you guys have to say about it.
My friend and I were sitting down, watching television and she noted that in the trailers for nearly every comedy movie, there is a shot of a man getting hit in the groin. Also, when you turn on America's Funniest Home Videos, majority of those clips involve men being hit there as well.
I don't think that this is tasteful, and I don't think it's right. I do not believe that it is ever right to hit a man "where it hurts." It can cause a lot of damage as well as pain. I don't see how something like this became humorous. To me, it would be the same as someone laughing at another person breaking their arm.
So ladies and gentlemen, what are your thoughts on the subject?

The video clips that they show (usually) aren't planned. I can't count the number of times that my husband has been accidently racked by one of our sons while they're playing. Sometimes they are on purpose, but you can usually tell. As for it being funny, it's basically the same kind of funny as when you hit your "funny bone" in your elbow. You kinda laugh, but you hurt at the same time.
The only time I would say it was okay to hit him there is if he is threatening you in any way. That will drop a man fast if you can hit him before he hurts you. If a man were to assault me, or whatever, I'd go for his groin or his knee. If I can take out one or the other I have a better chance of getting away, no matter how big he is.

I agree I find it distasteful when I see it on TV all the time or america's funniest videos. The only time that I would say that it is ok is if you are being attacked and you need to get away to protect yourself. I know that sometimes it happens by accident but I would never intentionally do it to someone for the reason that you stated. I would never want to permanatly damage this person where they could never have children or anything else like that.

Well, I'd say it's okay if he hurts you. When there is no escape from a devil ,hit him where it hurts the most, but other than that it's not something that's enjoyable.I think they do it because they know that one doesn't usually die from it and it makes men stand in an awkward posture when hit. Moreover, most would want to hide it.Perhaps that what people find humorous.

I have heard again and again that the best form of self defense is to hit a man 'there'. Hence, I would think is is ok if it is for self defense. As for the comedies, I personally do not find it tasteful unless it was meant to be educational.

I think it's ok to hit a man there when you are in physical danger. That's about it. If someone tries to hurt you, you should defend yourself in the most effective way, which involves a solid kick to the groin. I don't find it amusing when I see it on TV. Fart jokes are better than the lame shots to the groin they show on America's funniest videos.

Actually, it isn't right, it can cause a man injury. I once dated a man who had to have one his uh, well, you know, removed. When he was a kid, he was kicked hard there and it descended up into his groin. He was too afraid or embarrassed to tell his parents and it remained that way for years. After he got married and they were trying to have children, they found out that that was the problem and he had to have it surgical removed.
The only way I would kick a man there is if I was in physical danger and had no choice.
It really is no laughing matter.

I don't find it funny at all. I have a little boy and if anyone ever kicked him like that, well, then they will have me to deal with.
It's never okay to hit anyone and I teach my kids that everyday. It's not something to laugh about either. But that is my opinion.

i agree with you.i dont think it is right to hit men where it hurts.it not only hurts but causes a lot of health hazards too.it may be funny on screen because it never does really hurt on screen because they are faking it.it mabe funny to watch.people tend to laugh at other people's pain and such acts are termed as comedy and are supposed to be comical.that is the way the human mind works.i think in reality one should never hit a person there nor should never one even think about hurting someone.

As a guy I can promise you it really hurts so bad when we get hit there! So please don't do it to a guy just because you had an argument or some petty thing like that. You should only do that if you're in physical danger from like a rapist or a mugger attacking you.

I guess every man must had this painful experience and believe me it's not funny at all, and yes it can cause real damage.
I don't like it either, it goes like "ouch" but in some kind of movies/shows things like someone falling off the roof and break his legs may be funny, we can laugh at someone acting stupidly and caught fire and running around in flames.. So at the end i think we really don't take it seriously with "cartoon violence" and we can laugh at anything sometimes.

Well, it may look funny on a video, although it's happening on funniest videos here in UK as well, so often that it's no joke any more. It hurts a lot, I've experienced it, not by being hit by a women, but when playing various sports. I remember it made me feel nausea and everything seemed to black out around me, although I was conscious.. Fortunately, there was no damage, but it felt like it.
I don't think partners should hit each other at all, man or woman. There is a problem with TV violence shown in a joke. I think it shows any kids watching that it is OK and violence won't really harm. But the plain truth is that violence nearly always leads to more violence.

Eh, I think a guy could do something to deserve it. Sure it's going to be a last resort in my case anyway, since I understand just how bad it'll be. Though never for humourous reasons, that's just wrong. I have laughed at it on occasion, usually the response is an expression similar to "it hurts just watching".

yes its true its very painful to be hit on groin, just wondering also why some people laugh at it in tv? its no joke to be in pain, im not in favor of that kind of situation where in it is treated as abig joke even in tvs.

In my view movies are only for fun. ther is no reality in ther actions so do not take them seriously and enjoy the scenes. i think you are too emotional. why are you questioning only on this point there are other scenes also like sx and kis scenes. if they are allowed which are spoiling the society then what is the harm to show fighting scenes.with friends we see movie for entertainment so enjoy with ur friends

I think the only time you should ever kick a man there is if your in danger. Any man knows what it feels like to get kicked or even bumped down low for that matter. Should have respect because you just want to cry if it happens.
