Every Sunday I try to do my best responses and rate every post. I was going through my posts and I thought that sure is familiar, went to the top of the Page and there was my post as well as the link I had posited for the one about revisiting the sixty's. Now my question is other than reporting the person, do you rate them I was really tempted to give him a negative rating, and thought hay your are going to give your self a negative rating because those words are yours. So I didn't do any thing. I would love to have your thoughts on this

If someone is stealing your posts, by all means, report the person. That is totally against guidelines, not to mention downright rude. People that do that need to be stopped as soon as possible.

I had someone use part of my original words in my posting as his answer. I was like you, thinking "this sure sounds familiar". I rated him negative and reported him to mylots. They removed his answer and looked into his other discussions. So, report him.

This also happened to me in the early days here on myLot. It was before the copying and pasting rule came into effect. My post was copied and pasted and even the plus and minus signs were copied. Some other member here on myLot drew my attention to it so I reported the user for abuse. I wasn't flattered as the person who copied couldn't even speak English. myLot closed his account shortly after that. You should also report that your topic has been stolen as myLot will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

Robin, my friend, I just left that discussion right after you noted the theft of your thoughts, words and feelings. I would be upset that someone else would think that they could benefit in any way by attempting to steal a post of any kind. I read your discussion, watched the video of the 1960's ( it was awesone by the way)....I know that you had just picked the best response and then I noted his theft..... I also reported this person---I do not utilize the negative button--or have not as of yet....but it upset mne greatly that this has been done to you! I have seen it a couple of times here lately.....it can not be tolerated!!!! I love the time I spend here but do not appreciate the few who can not seem to follow the rules.... I also noticed that this theft was performed by a user with 31 responses...being new...I left him a comment.....letting him know that this behavior will not be tolerated here! Blessings coming your way, my friend.

Not only would I rate them, but I would definitely report them to Mylot as I believe this would be a violation of the terms of use. Some people take the idea of copying and pasting to a whole new level. I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you, but doing nothing won't stop them from plagerizing someone else.

In that instance I would definitely have given them a negative rating as well as reporting them to myLot for abuse because really there's no excuse for that kind of behaviour. I appreciate what you mean by "those words are yours" but they've been misappropriated by someone else so that sort of changes their meaning anyway.

Stolen posts constitutes as cheating and should be reported as such, someone is getting credit and worse money for taking your ideas, so this is not on. I wouldn't be angry, annoyed yes but I would deal with it by reporting it to Mylot and plaigerism isn't welcomed here.

I don't rate them with a negative. If they have copied and pasted the article that was started by another person or by yourself, I report them for system abuse.

Are you saying that they copied and pasted part of your discusison as the comment?? This has happened to me. One person when through several of my discussions and did this. I was so upset. The first one, I just ignored but I got angrier with each one I saw. By the time I had finished reading this persons comments on my discussions, I was so angry that I just had to do something about it.

If someone has stolen your post then report them AND rate them. You won't be rating yourself negative because the words are under someone else's name, even though it was originally your post. Stealing someone else's discussions is a blatant abuse of the Mylot rules and regulations, and unless we report and rate, Mylot will no longer be the place that we all know, love, and enjoy. Admin ask that we do our bit by reporting these people, and I think we should. Abuse such as this cannot be tolerated.

On the one hand you want to think of it as the highest form of flattery....... but in this case I am afraid it is not. This person clearly is a cheat. They saw a high number of responses and wanted it for their own. I believe you are thinking about it too much. You report the abuse because it is just that. You give a negative response because the person being given credit for the post is not the originator and you go on. I think that too many of us get caught up in worry about treating everyone here like we do our friends in our everyday life. But this is a very unique community in which we will never really get to know everyone and their intentions as well as we know the people in our lives. When we see dishonesty and people cheating the system, we need to do all that we can to have they person represented for who they are. The negative you give will affect their star rating and that is how it should be.

That person is benefiting from a discussion that you originally created so you have a right to be as angry as you want to be.

I'd say you'd have to give them a negative rating for plagiarism. Next you report them 'coz they're violating myLot rules.

Feel honored Robin that they thought enough about it to use it. It also gives an added link to your posts so others can respond too.

i have posted discussions similar to others but i didn't copy them. i only knew about others discussion when i have posted mine already and see the list of related topics. you can never really tell whether they copied it or not because there are a lot of people here in my lot and we can't all keep track of the discussions that are already existing. it just says that you share common questions with others.

i'll feel mad as well. because its not right to stole someone's post. people who stole someone's post doesnt have the guts and effort in doing his own post. what they've think of is how to get a much easy way to earn here. and that he doesnt seem of giving consideration about the ideas and feelings of that person who he have stolen. thats very annoying and intolerable.

Well,i dont think mylot is much of a competitive place where you compete for your earnings and beleive me;almost everyone is here of earning some money. So you can expect people to steal your ideas and posts.Well i would be honoured because someone is following me up and regards my posts worth posting.About giving him a negative rating, depends on your mood.
