when do you bite your nails?

i really don't know why they do that. maybe because it gives them something to be busy with. i asked my daughter once why she does it. she says that biting the fingernails, make her feel good. well, i feel odd about it because this habit has the effect of getting the fingernails out of shape.

I am also having the bad habit of biting nails. Though I bite nails when they get big in size. My habit is not related to emotions as mentioned by you that people bite nails while watching movies,etc.It really looks bad but its a habit which is very difficult to get rid off.

nope i dont bite my nails, because bitting your nails is a sign of insecurity and there might alot of germs inside and it isn't nice to look at

I bite my nails. It is not a good thing. I think it is partly habit & partly nerves.

nail biting?! eek it's annoying to see some one bite their nails especially when you talk to them. once my teacher told us that nail biting is a sign of insecurity. maybe people do that to keep them occupied. but it's really not good to bite your nails. nail cutters have been invented so let's leave the nail to them.

I myself are (or am?) a nail biter. I have been doing it for as long as i can remember, and im not quite sure that its always a nervous habit. But i do agree that yes it is a habit, and a very hard one to break at that. To me it doesnt seem disgusting, because i do it myself. Its just like people that smoke, other people may find it a disgusting habit, but a smoker wouldnt see it that way. The thing to understand is that it is a very hard to break and people do not really willingly do it, it simply is force of habit.

I dont bite nails its not good and bad habbit. i beleive nails are dirty however we clean them.

i bite my nails as a habit, i dont find it discusting, i only find it discusting when people bite them and spit them around thats discusting but other than that im happy for someone to bite their nails next to me as long as there is no spitting

I myself am not a nail biter. It doesnt bother me when other people do it though. I think it is just a nervous habit for most people.
