This is what happen my husband was going to get in his car, knocked on the door and told me I left the keys in door. I was so surprise, God was with us. The keys were in the door all night lone anyone could have came in. That was scarey. What happen was I was bringing some things in the house and my hands were full. I was also tired, too I forgot to get the keys out the door. What about locking keys in the car I am sure you have did one or the other?

key - key left at the lock of the door
Hello, marciascott, i think I had forgottent to take my key out from the lock once at home because I was in a hurry to go out that day. Luckily I discovered the key was left intact at the lock when i came back home, if not, I did not know where i can find it.

I have left my keys in the door before, that is an easy one. One time when my daughter was around 9 months old I went to a car wash where you spray the car and wash it yourself and I left my daughter in the car with the car running so that the air conditioner could be on her while I washed the car. While I was washing the car she locked the doors of the car (they were automatic door locks), she was locked in my running car with the air conditioner on and I could not get to her, I panic, I finally found someone to help me break in my car, I could not believe I could not get her to open the door. I never did this again.

I dont remember any such moment of forgeting the key in the door or the car ... besides i think that doing so give a wrong impression on others ... May be one can also feel that you are an irresponsible person ... As you know " imaginations of a person can go wild at time "

Last week it happened to my husband. He locked the keys inside his truck. I had to drive about 9 miles to give him the spare keys.

As I've never had a car, I've never locked keys in my car. I have locked keys in my apartment, and my landlord had to let me in. Pierce Properties charged me $39 to let me in. I was more than a little upset as I had to wait three hours on my porch. My mother has locked her keys in the car before, leaving us stuck in a few places' parking lots. I remember shopping for my first computer, and Mom locked her keys in the car. I wound up not buying a computer in that store.

Anytime I can't find my keys there're stuck in the door. The car has electric locks so I haven't yet locked the keys in. (Knock on wood!)

Yes, I have ever left my keys in my door before. That was when I just moved into my apartment two years ago and somehow with all the shifting and moving of things, opening and closing the door, I left it dangling on the lock of the front door overnight. I only realised it the next morning when I was looking for my keys to go out and found it dangling from the lock on the door. I too was really thankful that nobody came in because I was all alone in the house.

I've done both of these, and boy, that's something that makes me feel stupid. I'm not usually a "scattered" person, but I have left my keys in the front door of the house once after letting myself in(my BF found them a few hours later when he came home after me). And I've locked my keys in my car. Twice. Once while it was running! The time it was running, I had gotten out to scrape the ice of the windshield while the car warmed up, and must have hit the auto doorlocks on my way out. Luckily, my parents were visiting and I had my spare car key in my apartment (to which my parents had a key). I also locked myself out of the house once on my way to work. I had turned the knob button and then pulled the door shut behind me before I realized I only had my work keys, not my house or car keys in my hand. I had to call a locksmith for that, since my BF was at work already. I guess 4 screw-ups in 30 years isn't that bad really, but I'm still much more careful about checking that I have everything before I close any doors now!

You are not alone on this one for sure marcia because i have done both of those things and more. I have gone into our local mall and shopped in several of the stores then gone out to the parking lot to get in the car and no keys. Then i would have to go back in to all of the stores one by one til i locate them and it is scarey too. Thanks god our mall is only small. As for locking my keys in the house dont that one hoisted many a kid into a window or jimmied a lock or two lol and left them in the door as well. I have lock the keys in the car before as well until crime started to be a really big issue in our tiny town i left the car keys on the floor of the care and my does never were locked to get locked out of but now you cant even dare too and that is sad. I got so used to not having to lock stuff up that now i cant keep track of my keys lol and that is sad too.

Yes once I left the key when my family for a trip. After 28 kms of journey, suddenly I felt something I had missed. Oh no it was my key that was in the lock. As fast as my husband moved the car. Thanks GOD, it was intact. Nothing was left. I got a lesson and since I always check for it.

I leave my keys in the door occasionally and its sometimes really annoying because i find myself wondering what the heck i did with my keys. Its so hard sometimes to remember little things, and you just loose track of things.

I don't know how many times my husband has left his car keys in the boot lock. I used to do the same but I have gotten much better at it. It would often be when I was bringing the shop in and everything would make it inside but the keys. Despite some unsavoury sorts we have had in the last few weeks coming to the door and trying to scam us door to door, I have been lucky to live in some very honest neighbourhoods with good folks!

Oh boy have I. I have left keys in the door but not overnight we are always going in and out and my husband checks things over alot and our door stay open so if we forget the key we usually see it. My mom has locked her keys in car a few times and had to get a slimjim to get it out. I have left keys in the trunk of the car quite a few times then I realize keys are missing and go looking for them by reatracing my steps of when I last had them.

I will not encounter a problem with leaving the key on the door. This is because we need the key only to open it and not to close it. But I have left the car key inside the car and locked it. But (top secret) the tumblers in the lock are so worn out that I can open it with any body's key. So nothing to worry.

I have done the same thing, only with a motel room!! You remember when you drove your car and parked right in front of your room? Not the high rises that we have now. Well, we opened the door with the key, put the 'do not disturb' sign outside and realized the next morning that the keys were in the door all night long. Talk about an invitation!!!

I've left the keys in the door before. Atleast you know where they are then. I havent locked my keys in my car....yet. I have been with other people who have though. The worst time was once when we went ice fishing and my friend locked the keys in the truck. This was a very remote lake. No other fishermen no telephones. I stayed with the equipment huddled inside the ice shanty while he walked to find a house. The first two houses had no phone service. He walked about 5 miles before finding a phone. Called my mom who in turn called my uncle who is a locksmith. Oh and we never even caught a single fish.

Keys - Set of keys.
I did once lock my keys in my car. I placed them in my coat pocket. My coat pockets weren't that deep so the keys slipped out onto the car seat as I was getting out. I didn't even noticed till I was ready to head home. I looked all over the store trying to find my kays. My partner came with my extra set only to find my others laying on the front seat of the car. He has never let me forget doing that.
