A good sound sleep makes you energised the next day. Where as a sleep full of thoughts, dreams would make you dizzy even in the morning! I have often seen my days going waste because i did not have a good sound sleep. I tried changing my scheudle a bit but it didnt help.
what do you do to get a good sound sleep??? Do you get one??? Or you troubled by thoghts or unwanted dreams?!?!

Try doing this: never do anything in your bed except to sleep. Treat your bed as a place only for sleeping. When at night you're not ready to sleep, go to your study desk and read or go watch a little TV. Once you feel the urge to sleep that's the time you hit your bed. Dont do anything else but focus on sleeping when you lie down in your bed. Eventually this will develop as a habit and will improve your sleep. OR
Please do yoga, regularly early in the morning. Coupled with pranayama and meditation, it will certainly improve the quality of your sleep. The Bihar School of Yoga are teaching what is called 'yoga nidhra', which has a tremendous effect on your sleep.

No idea. It's rare I actually feel rested after manageing to fall asleep. All the tips I've heard about try not thinking of anything doesn't help since my brain didn't come with an off switch. I can't do that "imagine all the stress and tension flowing out of you" thing you keep getting told because I have no idea how to imaginf\e somethign liek that and that also implies thinking which is already making the rules confusing. The sleep schedule thing does nothing at all in my experience. (I also don't agree with the "you're meant to sleep at night and be awake during the day" thing either, that's so bogus it isn't funny since some parts of the world ha\ve six months of night then six months of constant daylight, but that's another topic altogether)
But I'd be interested in learning how to pull off a good nights sleep, without taking medication which may ormay not work and may or may not have side effects.

Recently, i dont get a good deep sleep because of some problems at home. A good deep sleep can be achieve in two ways for my opinion that is. One if i am extremely tired that my eys couldn't stay open, thats when i reach a bed i would just fall and sleep for 10 hours (However this is rare for me because i would need to wake up after 4-5hours to get ready for work). Second is when i had a JOYFUL day, where i am happy, and before i sleep o would be daydreaming still of the wonderful things that had happen. In this way i can sleep every as short as 4-5 hours it would be DEEP and pleasant sleep. When i wake up i would feel refreshed. :)

First of all, it's better to not eat or drink much after 7pm. Second, doing relaxing things starting a couple of hours before going to bed like, taking a warm, relaxing bath will really help. Many people are too keyed up at bedtime.

i do believe that even a 3 minute nap can help us re-energized our system. how much more a good sound sleep for the next day's task. some would try re-arranging their beds, some would try changing schedules as you did and etc. But karvin, do pray before you sleep? We sometimes ended up our day bad, and sometimes nice. But most importantly, we should thank the Lord for winding up your day alive and able to sleep. be it good or bad, offer what had happened when your day ends so you can start a new fresh day tomorrow. just a suggestion.

You can get a good deep sleep by not sleeping for 4 days or even better for 1 week then take 3 capsules of 500 mg of sleeping pills 3 times a day then take a bath and have 1000 push up. I guarantedd you will be on a deep sleep.. eternally... have a nice sleep. You may rest in peace!

I think that's something good about my 'ringing ears' (tinnitus): it gives me something to focus on that doesn't mean anything.
(Well really, it's a sign that my brain is trained to 'focus on nothing' ... my conscious mind knows Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo--the Korean Sanskrit for 'what every existing thing is thinking'--and I've said it enough for my subconscious mind to try to hear it ... or something like that.
(Or Not)
Anyway, I live by 'the most-important commandment(s)'---they guide my every thought & action. Because of that, my life is only 'reactions-in-love to all the actions that affect me.'
I lie down to sleep (thanking G*d for ... stuff) and first think about 'how comfortable I am.' Then ... I don't know, I guess I just 'let go and let G*d (take care of getting my mind where it needs to be).'

To get good sound sleep you have to work hard in daytime and do not sleep during daytime.. Second you must have good healthy food and must leave drinks, smoking, watching TV late night, junk food..etc which harm normal rhythm of body. Your bedroom must be clean and must have some good light color so that enhance and improve sleep. If you have any disease then it must be treated.. You may hear some light classical music or read some good books before getting bed..I think these are the ways to get some good sleep.. regards.

For good sound sleep, you have to concentrate before sleeping. you do following things except concentration, you will get better sleep
1) wash your hands and legs with clean cool water
2) take long breath by nose to your stomach and relax
3) don't panic, let any thing come to your mind, just let it be, don't let anything to insert or anything to throw out. just let it be.
4) close your eyes and lie on your backs. for sleeping by lying back position, you have to practice some days, it will produce very good result.

I suffer from insomnia. I get little sleep or I overslept. Either way it causes me dizzy and less energetic. My solution to get a good deep sleep is to sleep somewhere quiet and peaceful. If that doesn't work, I will take sleeping pill. If you dont want to have dream then meditate first before going to bed.

I think to get deep sleep you must feel tired before sleep. That is based on my experience. The tired that I mean is not tired after you have a sports or do some job but after driving at long journey. But, I think the tired after sports also suitable to get deep sleep. Ok, after you have a sports game (must at night), I prefer if you want to play night games, badminton is suitable games. After you are tired go and take a bath and after that try to sleep. About a few minute I think you can sleep soundly. And after six to eight hours you can wake up from your sleep. But, don't wake up after seven to ten hours you sleep because it can make you more tired and you can't do you daily job properly.

Try to develop a bed routine (Take a warm bath read a book for about 10mins)
