Should motorcycle riders be required to wear a helmet?

As I work in the medical field I think they should be required to wear a helmet. If it is not required, why should we be required to wear seatbelts? I think a helmet would be more protection then a seatbelt. I have seen some pretty bad head trauma from riders with no helmets. It is not pretty.

No, I don't think they should. Laws should be made to prevent people from harming others. But, if someone wants to risk their own life, I think they should have that right.

Required? No, but obviously it should be encouraged. Non-helmet riders should pay for their own health insurance, however.

better do so, or buy an open model or one which you can open on the front for slow cruising. sometimes a mosquito hits the front and then i'm glad about wearing a helmet. i hate coming home after a ride and pulling out the insects from between my teeth. ever got hit by a stone?
