How can i add subtitles to an avi using mencoder?

I'm running mandriva linux 2007.0 and trying to subtitle some avi file. But somehow the subtitles don't get encorporated when reencoding with mencoder. When i run it in mplayer, they appear whout a problem. Any solutions or tips...

zeroGravity just 2 mobiles, one for the wife and one for me. also 2 fixed, 1 private and 1 from work, those are cheaper when we are at home, mobile costs are too steep for long chats.

zeroGravity you should wear what makes you happy, anyhow the world is too materialistic anyhow. if your friend feels happy then good for her! and she always can buy and wear (change her look) more often when it is not so expensive. i think you can't judge over people...

zeroGravity mostly, sometimes the friends post garbage too, but usually it works quite well together. luckily we can choose who can be our friend, which is a good thing anyway. don't you think?
