It makes me sick when my friend pays $65-$100 on jeans! I pay no more than $10!

I honestly cannot stand it when my friend pays huge amounts of money on name brand jeans!
I buy all my clothing from second hand clothing shops, I still have the big names like Tommy, Mossimo, Mavi, CK, and so much more!
I can spend only $20 and come out with a HUGE bag of clothing plus a toy for the kids! (everytime)
Plus shopping at a place like the Salvation Army you know that the money your spending is going back to the people who need it rather than The Big Guys who are already rich!
What do you think, and what is the average that you pay for a pair of jeans?

I buy my jeans fairly cheaply too, never spend over $30 for a pair, but I haven't bought any second hand. I never thought about how if I did the money would go back to people who need it, you do have a good point. I have bought some of my sons clothes at a consignment store, it never bothered me because he was going to spill and stuff all over them anyway. I usually do most of my shopping at Ross and Wal Mart, both cheap prices but good clothes.

That's a great deal! Have you ever looked on ebay? I know it isn't going back to charity, but it is helping people who are trying to work from home pay the bills. There are some great deals to be had on there. I have done quite a bit of buying on there.

The best part for me is since I usually have my 5 and 2 year old(s) with me so I usually don't have time to try them on, this way even if it doesn't fit me I can give them to a friend or right back to charity and it's still very inexpensive for what I come out with!
The other day I got a pair of Banana republic jeans for $3, a pair of mossimo for 2.50 and a pair of gap flare jeans for 2.50!
It's like a mini shopping spree every time!

Some people don't like to wear used items. I can understand becasue I'm like that too. WFor example, when my son was born, my own sister offered me baby items, and I didn't want them because I preferred to buy new things. I just enjoy picking out things I like, things that are brand new, and since it's my own money I'm spending, I don't see why it should bother my sister or anyone else.

It is the big stores' gimmick. They present the same product which costs costs 1/4th the price and because it is air-conditioned, well attended, well packed, all the overheads are added to the product. Actually the ready made garments come from developing countries at rock bottom prices and the distributor and middlemen make lot of money by way of commissions and handling. You are right when Jeans costs $10 (India too it can be got between $8 to $20), the big stores charge exhorbitant. Gullible buyers thinking it is high quality just buy it up.

Why does it bother you so much that your friend spends so much money? It's not your money, right?
I think you're getting the better end of the deal, but why waste your time and energy getting so worked up about what someone else has done?

An honest response to you - If your friend can afford to spend so much money on a pair of jeans, then why does it make such a difference to you? I shop a lot at second hand stores, it's a part of my personal style I guess. But what my friends spend their money on is none of my business whatsoever. I enjoy making bargins, but I wouldn't use my energy getting irritated on how my friends spend their money. Such a waste.

I loves jeans and I love to get new jeans right now but I can only get it from the GAP store. They are the only place that carries my size and fit without cutting it short. My mother in law's nieces got 2 girls and when they go through their clothes, they usually give it to my neice but I go through them first and I can always find a jeans that fit me. It sad to me when Im 28 and I can wear 16, 17 years old girl jeans. But in Japan where Im from, $65 to $100 is normal price. and sometime you have to pay more.

I go to Steve and Berry's for my jeans, and they are brand new and cost less than $10. I have one of those friends, she took me shopping and had me try on these jeans that looked great, when I asked how much she said only $75 and I said are you nuts. Even if I had lots of money to spend I don't see the reason to buy jeans for that much.

I was recently introduced to the clothing at the Salvation Army by a friend and was throughly impressed. I thought before I HAD to get my clothes from well known places. I saw the quality of the clothes at the Savation Army to be very good. They don't sell stained clothes or clothes with holes in them. I have saved a bundle! I thank my friend all the time and my husband does too!

My first shopping trip there was a blast, (all others since too of course.) I spent about $50.00 and got so many clothes! My kids got at least 5 complete outfits and I got 4 complete outfits! It was crazy!! I LOVE IT!! Never having to look at the price tags is great too. Honey never asks, "How much did you pay for that"? anymore.

I usually pay about £10 for a pir of jeans for myslef, which I think is about $6. They don;t even have to be from a charity shop. I soend more on my kids clothes than mine. I have to budget and it makes me mad when people spend loads on just one thing and still have money left when I've usually had to save to buy myself a cheap pair of jeans. I think people who are willing to pay more make it harder fr those who aren't because it means shops are going to increase their prices and people like us will lose out because we either won't pay them and go without or we have no choice but to pay higher prices than we want to.

I used to have a friend who would only by name brand stuff. She would always tell me how much stuff cost and it literally made me feel sick! The amount of money she would spend on one outfit, I could have gotten 3-4 for the same price. Needless to say, we no longer keep in touch. Too many differences.

I think that is a very smart way of shopping! I do yard sales - there is a neighborhood in the next town that has the greatest yard sales. The houses in the neighborhood are in the 300,000 - 500,000 - so, the clothes they sale are name brand - and you usually can pick them up for 50 cents to $3! My kids love it because they get more items for their wardrobe than they would have gotten had we shopped in the stores.

Well, I guess different people have different interests. What your friend values may not necessarily be worth the same in your eyes.

I defintly agree with you. I hate that. I could not bring myself to ever pay that much money on a pair of pants. I buy mine for about $15.00 that is pretty much as cheap as I can get them since I am plus size.
