Update on My New Job

United States
May 7, 2007 2:05pm CST
I just got off the phone with my new employer. She thought I was calling her to tell her that I didn't want the job! Of course I set her straight on that one. We discussed salary and to my surprise I will be getting about 75 cents more an hour than I anticipated! That was really good news. Monday will be strictly orientation from 8-4. On Tuesday I will start at the agency and go off to some of the client's homes. Soon thereafter, I will have my own work schedule. I can now fully breathe that sigh of relief. The thought of having a good paycheck coming in is wonderful.

Oh, Elusive...that is so great. It's always better to recieve more than you expect for pay. It's hard work though and you deserve every penny. I can't wait for you to tell us how it's all going. Just remember to watch out for the elderly during a full moon, lol. I know you are going to just love it. You are such a giving and caring person, your job should reflect that about you. Hugs, and bet you can't wait till Monday.

That is such wonderful news. I can hear the excitement in your words! I know how stressful it can and does get when you are not getting an imcome in on a regular basis. Congradulations to you and your family. YOur mother will miss having you to be available to take her to the store and such though. I really am happy for you. I bet you like this kind of work as you seem to me like you are a "people" person.

That's great news, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that you've finally got a job, I hope it really works out for you, especially after Dunkin Donuts. (I've been inactive recently since I went on holiday, came back to no broadband, and since had a virus - me not the computer, and also several family birthdays, so still to catch up with some of your other discussions). Being able to earn makes a big difference, especially if you are going to earn more than you had originally thought.

I was very please to hear of the offer for pay. She said that they normally don't start new employees out that high, but she said I had great references and my office skills will also come in handy.

I tried to contain myself when she told me what I would start at. It was actually 63 cents less than what I was paid at my last job. I worked there for 6 years.

She also told me that most of the employees get pay raises at the end of the year too. That would be wonderful. The past 3 years I worked I received no pay raise.

Congratulations on getting the job and a salary more than what you were expecting. That is great news and hope the job goes well and that you like it. I hope that your employer did not scared by your call. :-) Usually the first day or days are for orientation as you will probably have to fill out paperwork and be given a tour or introduced to various people. It will probably be more procedural stuff than actual working. I am sure it will feel good when you get your first paycheck. :-)

So true! The orientation is just that. Before I can actually get a schedule to work hands-on with the patients I need to take a CPR course. I hope that will be scheduled for me to take in the first week.
