Is your state or country in a severe drought situation?

Down here in Florida we are in our dry season.Every year at this time,Floridians put up with brush fires and loss of home and wildlife but this year is the worst in years. As of a couple of days ago,we had almost 180,000 acres burning-one fire even jumped the Georgia border to North Florida. Our poor fire fighters are exhausted. Down here in South Florida,we finally got a good rain for about an hour but unfortunatley we are in too severe a drought for it to be a drought buster .I wanted to know if your state or country is experiencing severe drought, even if it hasn't gotten to the point where fires have started.

Singapore is always in a drought situation. Despite us being an island (you do know sea water is not drinkable directly right?), we have a problem with water. We get our water from many sources but countries where we get water from have tried to exploit us by "revising" water contracts without our agreement. So what our government has done (kudos to them) is to make us self-reliant. We have seen developed 2 whole new ways of getting water and even make a brand name of it and marketing it elsewhere. We have to be thankful to those who tried to wrestle us down by using water as a bargaining chip (despicable if you ask me since water is a necessity). We have since become better off thanks or no thanks to them.

Yes we were in middle TN, Jersey. Finally last week we had a couple of good storms that washed over us.Gave some relief to the severe dry conditions. Hopefully that will continue. WE had no real winter to speak of either and going into spring that trend just continued.

Yes it is getting a bit scary here in Australia, the water storage areas are getting very low and they are talking about recycling the water which is repulsing me, I don't think I could ever drink recycled water.

I don't balme ya.I don't think I'd be wanting to drink recycled water.Do you have any news of rain coming? It rained twice two days ina row but the drought is so bad,it did little to bring us out of the drought. The drought is so bad,it 's pushing predators like alligators out of their habitat to look for better watering holes.

Not even close here the snow pack in the mountians of BC is 100-160% above average and has yet to start to melt there is risk of flooding along some of the bigger rivers that they have been build up the levees to prevet it.

Thanks for the prayers. We need them.we did get rain twice down here in South Florida but our drought is so bad,it only helped us a little. Up in North Florida where the fire is the worst, they are getting nothing. They have had firefighters from other states but even they are getting weary.I can't wait til we get back to New Jersey!

Recently we were in a period of drought, but not too bad though I must say, just because of no rain in like 40 days. But the past 2 weeks it has rained pretty much non stop so it's more than covered again.

Living in Florida, I know the situations. Now I live in AZ. And the dryness, no humidity, is a real problem in the desert. Fires are our enemy. In the winter, a flash flood is the other problem. Our temp today is 107 where I am. It will be at 125 this summer.

In Texas we are always in a drought. I belive our water restricion signs went up in March here in Dallas. We cannot water our lawns after 10am or before 6pm. I think we are in stage 1 restrictions. I don't think we were get out of restrictions to be honest. By the end of summer we are usually in stage 3 or 4 restrictions.

We had our lawn watering cut down to twice a week but it has to be after 10pm or before 6 or 7 am ,one of them . In the town where I live,we are having a big problem with wells drying up.We have had over 100 dry up I believe. I cannot wait til I don't have to worry about the wacky weather here in florida

they said we're under fire warning right now. but i think that's mainly in the more wooded areas. we really didn't get much march rain and it still hasn't rained that much.

I do hope you get some rain soon.I know it's no fun being so dry.We have gotten some but the weatherman said it was justa drop in the bucket cause we are so dry.North Florida got none and that's where the wildfires are the worst.

I live in Alabama in the Northwest corner. It has been really dry here also. In a couple of counties there have been some wildfires. We are supposed to get rain here tomorrow and I sure do pray that we get it. I know it isn't as bad as where you are though. I pray that your state will get rain too. SheliaLee

I live in rural Arkansas...we have had almost 2 week of occassional but daily rains...none heavy, like they are getting in other areas of the US....my sister lives around Kansas City, Missouri and she has had roadways closed up there a few times lately because of all the rain they are getting.....We are expecting thunderstorms again this evening with an 80% chance, so I am sure it will rain again today. I have been seeing in the news about all of the wildfires that are destoying thousands of acres of the country down there...I am sorry, my friend....wish I could send you some rain....I will send you "wet thoughts" today....maybe it will help...LOL

We actually did get some rain.It rained twice in two days dropping quite a bit of moisture but we are in such a bad drought,it was like a drop in the bucket and up north florida where the wildfires are the worst, they got nothing.I also heard there was a real bad one in my beloved new Jersy. My aunt lives in one of the towns that has been evacuated and my dad hasn't been able to get a hold of her.Love the pic of you and hubby

Yea,I know lol,it would be so cool if we could have trade offs. I was having a good old time with huggiebear, lol. It's really frustrating for someone to be in a drought condition and hear about people being flooded out or vice versa.WE still haven't heard from my aunt and that's not good for my dad's health. He's really getting worked up and he doesn't need that.I'm sure she is okay as they haven't mentioned any deaths in that fire.

I do hope that your Auntie is ok....it gets scary with the risk of fires so close to neighborhoods.... As I was reading some of your responses here...I thought wouldn't it be great if we could somehow manage to trade weather between places to "fix" some of the hardships that Mother Nature seems to bestow on us at times....it would be... well....someone would undoubted threaten someone else with sereve weather if we had control of that too.....lol Thanks for the compliment on my new photo... Take care my friend...be sure to let me know how the MRI goes.....

No, we aren't a the moment. You would think we never would be, with as much rain as we get here in Ireland, but every summer it is the same. We are asked to conserve water, and when it gets bad enough we are asked not to use any in our gardens. I guess the old ceramic and clay pipes leak out ridiculous quantities of water, and the councils can't get around to fixing them, or ficing them quickly enough.

They have really cut down the water usage down here.nop washing cars and you can only water your lawn/garden twice a week at twilight and if it gets much worse,I'm sure they will cut down even more

I know, I saw the news coverage, you guys are in severe need of some rain. I am sorry for everyone there, no telling how long the fires will go on. I live in Missouri, and about a week and a half ago, we got rain, rain, rain! Bad enough that there was some major flooding and highways were shut down because of water over the roads. My sister lives in the small town that we grew up in, and they had to evacuate the town because of flooding. Her hard wood floors and the sub-flooring and sheetrock all have to be replaced in the house. The weather sometimes is very crazy, and it seems like we lose more and more during floods and droughts. Good luck to you guys!

yes we definitely are here in australia... this year is the worst drought that we had ever experienced and we are in stage 3a water restrictions now... some places in the outer suburbs already in stage 4 restrictions... the government are thinking of ways that they can do to improve the situation since few months ago but still to no avail until now... i just pray that God will bless us and send us rain... it has been raining for couple of days here... but it is just drizzling and it is definitely not enough...

Hi T! How are you my friend? I really hope that you guys get some consistent rain down there to end the drought and to prevent anymore forest fires. I am surprised that it has been so dry. Hurricane season is arriving so maybe soon you will start getting more rain, without the heavy winds. I have heard about the fires and the road closures because of the fire and smoke. My state is not in a drought situation yet but we have only had one rainstorm in a couple of weeks. We could use more rain but are not in bad shape like Florida.

Hi,K! Hurricane season doesn't start til June. This state is driving me Batty,k.The weather is so awful. We were hoping the rainly season was starting early but we are getting a dry front coming in and that's gonna dry what little rain we got and the firefighters are worried about the fires rekindling.

As you know, we are in a drought too, have been for at least two years. We did get quite a bit of rain a couple of weeks ago, & I posted a discussion saying the drought had broken. It seems it hasn't. I have been seeing your bushfires on TV. Your climate & conditions are so similar to ours. It's tragic he damage these fires cause. They should send some Aussie firefighters over to give yours a break.

Hello 66jerseygirl, I am sorry to hear that your country is having severe drought. In my country, we had our drought season in March and April. It is not severe as compare to your country. Right now we have rainy season which sometimes heavy and it can last for about half to one hour, worse will be one whole day.
