Yes I did find out the gender! He was our first child, and I was having complications with the pregnancy. We had an ultrasound done and saw his "manhood" right there on the screen! I think my husband saw it first. It was a proud day for him, and I was happy I was getting the son I secretly wanted. After that, I wished and wished for him to have red hair (for some reason, I wanted a red-headed child!) and as it turns out, he has red hair! It was a lot of fun picking out things for him after we knew - we bought a lot of the John Lennon stuff, and my Dad was thrilled to buy Harley Davidson stuff for him. He was SHOWERED with gifts when he came and I loved that we were prepared. If we had a second child, I think I would have to know that one as well. I have a hard time with suspense and surprises.

No. I had an ultrasound at like 12 weeks and they couldn't tell. We really wanted to know and we tried and tried to get another u/s but they wouldn't do it. We wanted a girl though and that's what we got!

Originally my husband and I agreed that we didn't want to know the gender of our baby but as time went along I noticed just how badly my husband wanted a son. He kept talking to my belly as if the baby were a boy. I became really nervous and sad because I hated the idea of having a girl and having to see the disappointment on my husband's face when she was born...I would have hated him for that, to be completely honest. So, I decided that I wanted to know the gender of the baby and if he still didn't want to know I wouldn't tell him. At the last minute he sadi he wanted to know and it turned out that I was, infact, pregnant with a girl. I was happy that I had found out first because that gave my husband some time to adjust his head to the idea of having another girl (he has a daughter from a previous relationship). In the end I was even far more grateful for finding out because my family collected a bunch of baby girl clothes for us. We love our little girl and were very happy to see her when sh efinally came out.

I will next month. I am having twins and just can't wait to find out the genders. I want to get things ready for them.

I had four children - the first three were girls and the fourth was a boy - and I never once knew the gender of the child before birth. The last time was so hard not to resist asking (the ultrasound technician knew!), but the thrill in the delivery room made it all worth it!

With my first son I did know he was a boy until the day I had him. I was hoping for a boy but never could find out. With my second I was hoping for a girl but found out a few months into the pregnancy I was having another boy. His dad was wanting a boy and already had the name picked out.

No we decided not have any more, I got my tubes tied. I have epilepsy and had a really hard pregnancy with my last one. And they have gotten worse since then. I wanted a girl but I am happy with my boys. We thought about maybe adopting a girl one day.

I found out with my son (first baby), but if I have another baby, I'll probably wait for the surprise. It was nice to know to be able to plan ahead, but I'd like to see how it feels to wait and hear "it's a boy" or "it's a girl" while hearing the baby cry for the first time.

kati, I'm not keeping any of my son's clothes because we don't plan on having more kids for at least 4 years and don't have space for the clothes. The only things I'm keeping are the gender neutral clothes. They really don't need much in the beginning, just onesies and sleepers. So I'll have plenty of time after the birth to buy gender specific clothes.

Well we THOUGHT we had!
When we had the last sonigram not long before birth was to be induced, the doctor was like "Um, you might want to start thinking of different names..."
Apparently, up until that time, our son had been rather shy and was hiding the... details.

Neither my wife nor I are much of a fan of pink, but there was a fair amount of yellow.
Fortunately, he likes duckies :-)
The hardest part was coming up with a name on short notice!
He was the first boy born into the family in several generation, so we figured genetics was against us (as seemingly proven by previous ultrasounds) so we had just never really considered boy names.

Well when you find out for sure its okay and you get to plan and have everything ready when the baby comes home. I think when I didn't know it was exciting and I was surprised when she was born. I would have to say not knowing if you have the patience. LOL

I found out with all three of mine. I was going nuts not knowing. I wanted to start shopping for the new baby the minute I found out about them. My husband had to make me promise not to shop till we found out what the baby was.

I have two little boys and 18 month old and a 6 week old, with my oldest i found out at the first sonogram. With my new baby they told us he was a she, so we went and bought a few pink things, then a few months later we had another sonogram and they told us that she was a he. Needless to say it left us very confused and made it hard to buy anything until after he was born.
