Good sleep helps to cope up with the stress ; concentrate, remember and analyze - lack of sleep can cause stress/ depression. Deep sleep makes the nervous system function well so that we can work well. Ill-effects of insomnia leads to poor health ,chest pain ,arthritis and even depression. So whatever works to help you sleep well (regular exercises, massages, meditation , yoga ) MAKE time for it .

Lack of sleep has also been proven to cause weight issues, and diabetes. We just do not take good care of ourselves. I rarely have insomnia, but when I do, I turn on something monotonous, have warm cocoa, and snuggle up in a blanket in a recliner.

It's sleep disturbances that cause havoc with me . Yet I manage things . As you said ,sleeplessness can result in various ailments. So sleep well and wake up refreshed . Good luck and all the very best .

I must thank you for your most informative discussion. I have problems with sleeping. I have insomnia and I keep on waking up. The effect is terrible. I get irritated very fast, mood swings and headaches.

I agree with you. good sleep totally refreshes us and prepares us for the day ahead. It gives us the stamina to do all the things we need tog et done. Researchers say 8 hours of sleep is the ideal amount we should get. We should also get in one 20 minute nap in the afternoon for ideal working of the brain and body.

I couldn't agree more with the importence of sleep. I don't believe I get enough of it, however it's something that I'm sure working on getting more of.

I am having to work on this myself. I do not reach the deep sleep stage and I actually did reach it the other night! I was really excited because I really felt a difference when I woke up. I still have to figure out what I need to do to reach that good sleep. Thanks for the info.

I totally agree with you, but how do you do it when you can't sleep for long periods of time? I have the worst sleeping habits ever. It is 2 in the morning, everyone else is sound asleep and I'm wide awake.

herbal teas warm aromacology baths and showers, incense, meditation, writing, reading, sleeping in a different place, sometimes if you can sleep in bed, just changing to the sofa will help.

Oh my goodness, I really hope i still have the luxury to have 8 hours of straight sleep. Since I have my girls, my sleep has been erratic. I try to take a short nap in the afternoon. I agree with what you're saying though. Lack of sleep tend to make us lose concentration as well as lead to some serious health problems. I would gladly accept a week of non-stop sleep if given the chance.

I try to get up to 8 hours a sleep each night, most nights I do. Since my hubby has been away for work these past 4-5 weeks its been uneasy sleeping at night. Infact because he is 7 hours ahead of us, I tend to stay up most of the night just so I can catch him online for a bit before he starts his day - my sleep has gone up the shoot LOL but he will be back in 4 days so I'm looking forward to that. Actually if I don't get enough sleep I can get quite moody and very restless.

I have trouble sleeping through the night. I often wake up after only 2 hours of sleep, so I might read a little or get a drink of water, and if I'm lucky I can get back to sleep. I need about 7 hours to function normally. Sometimes I have to take a nap during the day to help catch up on my sleep.

That's for sure our mind and body needs sleep to function properly... Sometime I don't get enough sleep, and it does have an effect on my mood and thinking through out the day.

well, i love sleeping but i do agree of what sukumar said that good night sleep cannot prevent stress and deep sleep gaves us energy to do our work. am!the truth is always sleep when i dont thing's to do. I always sleep when i'm about to read's books and playing.

Well, those are some pretty good tips to get some good night sleep. Thankfully, I don't have that problem just yet. I go to sleep easily.

I am naturally a night person. I ran away from home at 13 years old joing the carnival and circus traveling. For many years traveling I worked 20 hours day. This sleeping pattern has stayed with me even in my 50's. If I sleep more than 5 hours I get "overtired". I function normally with 4 or less. That's my sleeping patterns/strategies. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
