Title of bestseller book by Robert Fulghum “All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school. These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.” Do you agree with Robert Fulghum? Do you want to add something?

so much truth in that. This is a very interesting post. the basics and most important things were right there and yet we have college educated people who dont follow the basics..strange that truth is stranger than fiction....

I tried to respond to this three times and everytime I pasted something in it kicked me back to the response screen, so I hope you don't mind the link. My grandma had this hanging in her office until she retired and now I have it in my oldest childs bedroom, I only hope she pays attention to it. I love the book you referred to by the way! http://www.lovstrand.com/Quotes/LifesLittleInstructions.html

i've read this book several times and keep a copy in my mini library at home. someday, i'd like my kids to read it too. i have almost all of robert fulghum's books because i admire his style of writing and i agree to most (not all) of his insights about life, love and what-have-you. someday i'd like to be able to write like him about my own experiences and the philosophies behind them.

yes, we are still learning, but our world view in 80% is formed during first 3 years of our life...

I absolutely love Rogert Fulghum and have read all of his books. I think he is right on the money. We value the things that are not important and forget to do those little things that make all the difference in the world. I think if we all taped this list to our refrigerator the world would be a better place.

Well, that is another way of looking at all. I think that is how life is sometimes. I think if you know enough, you can pretty much get by without higher education. Off course, that doesn't work for everyone.

He has another book. I think it is titled "It Was On Fire When I Laid Down On It." It is quite a humurous read.
