Do you use a diary or scheduler? How is your time management?

Do you find that you are good at managing your time effectively? Do you balance out your time spent doing chores/work/play or do you find that sometimes you have your priorities wrong?
I am a student and sometimes I find that I have not managed my time to the best I can. Sometimes my lecturers have even told me about this. If I want to achieve my potential, I need to manage my time more effectively. I also like to earn money and work on the internet and spend time with my friends and family. Getting the balance right is the key to success, but it is not always so efficient.
I am working towards better time management but I still find that I can improve.
:)
Do you use a scheduler or personal organiser? or an old fashioned diary perhaps?
I do use this but sometimes I find myself spending more time on one project when I should be prioritising another one.
How are you with time management? Is it important to you or do you have a lot of free time?

I do not use a diary or a time scheduler. I keep my time schedule in my mind. I try to finish each job within the time stipulated for it.
Generally, I have seen that I am able to manage the activities within the time frame allocated for it. A few tasks planned with a bit flexible time frames are quite helpful in being on the target.
Nonethless, I feel that I can and I need to work to improve my time management.

i don't have my diary , but indeed with lots of things to do everyday, so sometime i write down something very important or second important in the pad and put it up on my cumputer, so i can decide which to do first, others may be done only when it comen into my mind. to make everydays' schedule , i think itself be a big work.

I use a diary for my engagements, meetings, birthdays, etc., and places I have to be, but nine times out of ten, my time management goes to pot. I prefer to relax and take things as they come. They seem to work better that way for me, so maybe time management is not important in all cases. I hate routine, and that smacks of routine.
Brightest Blessings.

I think in todays fast paced life, time management is one of the most important thing if we want to manage our work, family and play.
I mostly use the scheduler in my mobile phone to make note the important thing i need to remember and remind of it to me timely. I t has really proved useful to me.

I have always been good about managing my time, at least I thought so. Then I took a course on Time Mangement. The course affirmed that I was good at what I did but gave me insight into how to manage it better.
By doing the things you hate the most first, you end up making more time to do the things you love the best.
I used to use notes and make lists. I've become so proficient at time management I don't have to make notes or lists anymore. I know what needs to be done and I do it.
I do my 'chores' first and foremost, getting them out of my way to make time for other things. Then I allow 'pockets of time' for each project. I devote that time specifically for each project. I set a time schedule, like work, and when that time is up, I shut down my 'work' and prepare for the 'pockets of time' for family and enjoyment.
It allows me to have equal time and interests in everything I do without becoming overwhelmed with one thing.

I like this idea of time management. It seems to work well for me.
The best example for me is ironing.
Since I iron everything, even my sheets, when it comes to ironing I always have to iron my things first. If I iron my husband's things first, mine never get done. If I iron my things first, I know I have to iron my husbands. Ironing mine first get what I hate to do out of the way first. That way I can get my husband's things done with no problem and get my stuff ironed in the process.
Sounds dumb but it works.

I used to be a time management whiz and would often have free time I didn't know what to do with. Those days are LONG gone. Seriously, I wish there were more hours in the day ... and less hours when I feel exhausted or overwhelmed. I find myself procrastinating quite a bit and getting myself into serious time management problems when it comes to:
(1) homework assignments
(2) work deadlines
(3) keeping appointments
(4) making phone calls before places close (or go to lunch if it were morning)
I need to work on this badly. My daytimer used to be like my Bible, but even that doesn't seem to do the trick anymore. I used the myspace.com calendar, but that only works if I'm on the site regularly. I need to find something that really gets me in gear. I found a site once, but I can't seem to remember the link!! Ahhhh!

Actually, I wrote an article on time management.
You have to get your priorities straight,
right now the most important thing is getting through your studies, you have the rest of your life to do everything else.
So you have to plan your life around your studies, what time you have left after that is completely you divide among the family, friends, working.
You may find that you are trying to do too much in too little time and you may have to cut out some things as well unfortunately.
I don't really do much except work on line but I have to divide my time and set a certain time for each thing and sometimes, I will not be on my lot because I just can't fit it in.
But these are choices we all have to make.

Yes, I use a diary and whatever goes in there for me to do is a "must happen" unless of some unforseen emergency. Otherwise I would be doing something and thinking that perhaps I ought to be doing something else. Commitment to what I have written in my diary provides an excellent form of time management especially when there is a lot to do, I just do one thing at a time, knowing that when that task is finished, the next one will be started because all I have to do is check with my diary. :-)

The only time I use a scheduler is to remember when someone in my family has an appointment. I plan everything in my head that I want to get done that day. I tell myself when I need everything done by. I am usually able to complete the plan that I have set forth unless an emergancy pops up for some unknown reason.

We are living in computer age. We should forget the old type diary or note book.As concerned my self. I named HOLE to my schedule or my time organizer. H of hole stands for Home. The works belonging to my home activities are written in a file which I named home. O the second letter of Hole stands for office work. the third character L, I use for literary works, and fourth charecter E stands for Extra activities. I open the file or directory of home first. First I go to the list of jobs and then to the most urgent file to work in it. Similarly I open the office work directory and work in its files, and the go to literary area and after all I use to go to extra work directory. I am not slave of running time. I mean I dont depend on time period. I work as much as I can on a sigle section of my organizor, and I feel that it is working very nice. I am an author of a few books in my regional language, also a good grade officer, and old man, and you look, I am also attending you feliniti on the plateform of mylot. I am working here in freely and friendly mood. Wish you goodluck.

I don't use, neither diary nor a scheduler. I don't have many arrangements, so I don't need to program anything. I just need to know that everyday I have school... Other than that, I need to keep in mind that on Wednesday I have Guitar School from 5 to 6 PM and, on Saturday, Music School from 9 to 10 AM and English school from 2:20 to 4:50 PM.
Done, that's all I need to know. Simple, isn't it?

I don't manage my time. Because I think it is not effective. Long time ago,I always made a time table to do something, but the more hope, the more dispair.
Now I always think I will study tomorrow, but in the next day, I play the game ,see the film or read a novel all the same.
Sometimes I think I should make a time table, and it must be reasonable. And I should control myself not to do something unuseful. I have played with the computer almost three months, I must study this day.
I think I can do it.

I use my cell phone calendar to schedule my appointments and other things so that I remember when and where I am supposed to do things. Other than that I am pretty good and managing my time at home with chores and having fun. My time management at work is good too since I have a desk calendar and another calendar to keep track of things. I do not have a very busy life so it is pretty easy to find time for everything.

time management is of utmost importance. i used to keep a record of things to do, lest i should forget. since as a student, i had always been on this. for the last few years though, i have been freed from this scenario. now, i keep doing things as i please to be doing. this started a few years i have stopped working for a company. at first, i was managing a farm and it was challenging me just the same. now, since i have to be home all the time to keep watch of my sick son as much as possible, things get done as i please.

I use a scheduler and reminders to keep me on track. I jot down my things to do daily so I do not forget, I even put outlook reminders on tasks so that I can finish them on time. Most of my days are chaotic, that is the only I can get organized.

Time Management is very important to be successful in life. However its not even difficult to stick to the same shecdule rather not possible to do everything according to the set schedules. Life become very unpredictable every moment. So as we are not sure of the coming moments, we can try out still to main a good daily schedule. I try to main my day to day schedule. I never tried making a plan for the whole week. As its useless. So initially my practice was to try to plan things for only coming next 6 hours. Now that i know i can do things according to plan for the whole day, so i plan my shedules for the whole day. So i would say you should also try this out. Plan only for the next few hours and gradually increase it to a day. Also while planning things, it is important to set priority. Thinsg get delay initially ofcourse but after sometime it will be on time. The most important thing is to set atleast 1 hour for yourself and 1 hour for your family, it may include doing nothing and just be with you and with your family.
