Dressing for work

This morning I got to work and realized that I didn't match at all. The shirt that I put on to go with the capri pants that I'm wearing don't look good together, although in the light of my bedroom, I thought they did.
I've tried to stay in my office and behind my desk as much as possible. I didn't have a way to go home and change because my husband and I ride into the city together and he drops me off each day.
Has this ever happened to you? What happened and what did you do?

I ahve went so far as to fake a tummy ache so I could sit behind the desk all day and not be bothered much. :-) A few of my co-workers thought that I was faking it, but I was very careful to keep up the charade.

See, I feel so much better because I do not feel alone anymore! I too made excuses about not wanting to get up...I used my swollen feet as an excuse. They swell everyday, so it wasn't an outright lie...but it was really close, because they were probably less swollen Tuesday than they've been in weeks. lol

I'm sorry that I can do nothing to you.But I know we should wear formal dress to work, because it's related with the profile of a company. As to me,I also prefer to dress casually. However,I should thank you for giving me a warning.

I work at a school, so the dress is a little more casual. We still have to look neat and professional, but don't have to wear formal suits. I do if I have a meeting with a business man or a board member.

Sometimes, I think that is better in some ways. I work in an office, and although we can dress casually, we still have to look neat and professional.

I have never done that when I was drssing for work. I always choose my clothes the night before as I found that I was just too loopy to do it in the mornings. LOL However, I did forget to put on my b*a once and I was so embarrassed. My husband said that you could not tell as I had s jacket over my dress but I knew and that was bad enough. LOL

That's interesting..lol
Oh Connie, that's funny.
I have to wear cami's and undershirts and layer everything now. Since the back surgery, a bra strap goes right over the incision site and rubs. By the end of the day, I'm sore and it's red. It's been almost a year, so there's no chance of breaking open the incision, it just hurts.

I have done that .I work for a nursing agency and travel from patient to patient. We don't have to wear uniforms, thank god,but i do try to dress nice.Being a caregiver is hard especially when you have to go home and take care of a parent.I'm always tired and you should see some of my wardrobe disasters as a result of not thinking clearly. The only consolation I have is that most of the patients aren't coherent enough to notice.

bless your heart. My daughter works for a vet, and she gets to wear scrubs. I miss the days of working in a doctor's office and being able to do that.

I try to pick out my clothes the night before so that if something needs to be ironed, I'm not rushed for time in the mornings. I think I must have been really tired Monday night when I picked out my outfit.

Well, I do not work in an office, and have no place to hide. Matching is not so much an issue as spilling my cup of coffee, or something else on my top. Food likes to go there, too, especially if I am eating in the car. The last time this happened I pretended it was not there. Time before that, I had a tee shirt that I could put on instead, and that works okay,as I work in a school, with kids, but am not a teacher, so I do not have quite the professional standard to follow.

Do you find that everytime you put on something white...that you are GOING to spill something on it?
I do...every single time.

Ok I admit it! I have mixed navy and black in quite an unattractive way before. In my bedroom and bathroom light, they appeared to be black, but when I went to my car, I realized I was wearing a red print blouse with a black skirt, navy tights and black shoes. I was so embarassed, but really had no time to change because I had exhausted my few extra minutes accessorizing my outfit with a navy belt. Quite the fashion faux-pas I was that day!

Oops! You guys have made me feel so much better! See I really thought the stripes in my purple shirt were a dusty pink, which matched the dusty pink crop pants I'd decided to wear. When I got to work, I realized that the stripes were lavender! They didn't match at all.

I did almost the same thing you did. I just didn't mention it and I made sure that I never wore that combination again! It was embarrassing but the best thing was, was that no one said anything! I was surprised. Maybe it didn't look that bad afterall?
What do you think? Maybe it didn't look that bad?

Well, when I got home and said something to my daughter, she said "Well mom, it doesn't look that bad. But I wouldn't wear that shirt with those pants again if I were you. At least your shoes look good." My daughter the optimist. lol

To make sure that this never happens to me I always get my outfits together the night before that way I make sure that nothing is wrinkled or dirty and that everything matches, it also saves me a lot of time in the morning.

I now have my closet organized with all of my outfits hanging together and blouses grouped by color with the pants that they will match. Hopefully, that will never happen again.
Sunday, my mom wore one navy and one black shoe to church.
