right after the meal? Or do you like to relax a bit, maybe stay a bit at the table talking, or just go out for a coffee, and then come back for the dishes?I tend to prefer to relax a bit before doing the dishes. Often we stay at the table talking for a while. Sometimes we do go out for a coffee. And then when we come back we work on doing the dishes. What about you, what do you prefer: doing the dishes right after the meal, or a bit after?

Well I like to sit at the table and talk a bit with the family or whoever ate with me. I once in a while will go out for coffee, but not to often. After talking alittle while I like to g watch t.v. for about half hour, or instead of watching t.v. I'll go outside and ride around on the 4-wheeler for the fresh air. Then I'll come in and rinse off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher.

I got a dishwasher at home, so no need for doing the dishes. However, when i go to other houses or places where i need to do them, of course i do. In fact, doing the dishes is one of the domestic tasks that i mind doing the less. I turn my radio on and do them with no problem...i prefer it to ironing!

Yes, washing the dishes is one of my favorite chores too. ANd when my washing machine was running it was easier to just clear the table and fill it up. But now it's broken and I don't think I will be able to replace it anytime soon, so our machine now is called arkaf LOL

i don't rush immediately in doing the dishes after each meal. just like you, i want to relax first after my meal. atleast feel the delicious food, feel myself being full. we all need to relax, too, right? and when i feel like doing the dishes, i go do it. no need to have schedules for the dishes.

I completely agree with you. WE seem to let the house chores run our lives and I really don't accept that :)

Like you I prefer to rest for a bit but not to long lol Sometimes I will do the Dishes straight away as they are done then and I won't have to go back to them which means I can sit down and stay down lol

I usually never sit down for too long, so I don't mind breaking for a bit to do the dishes. Unless there is something I want to do that will take a long time.

I do the dishes right after a meal. I dont like the dishes to sit around and dry on. Right after I am done eating the dishes go right in the dishwasher.Sometimes I put some of the dirty dishes in the dishwasher before I even eat.

Yes, I used to rinse and put the dishes in the dishwasher as I was cooking. Since I don't have a dishwasher now I still wash the dishes as I cook and let then drying on the dish rack. I don't let the food dry on then because I leave them in the sink with warm soapy water until I go back to wash them.

I prefer a bit after, sometimes the next day. I admit I am not the best housekeeper but I am far from the worst also.

I"m with you. Just a bit to relax. WHen I had my washing machine working it was different it was just getting the things inside and press the button, but when it's manual work - and I do love anything that has to do with water - I prefer to just relax a bit before I start:)

i used to rush and do the dishes right away. but my brothers tell me to relax a bit since the dishes won't run away anyway. and i think they are right. it's better to take things lightly.

Yes, that's exactly how I prefer it. Clear the table, sit down for a bit to talk or go our for coffee and then come back and do the dishes.

I should do dishes just after we eat but sometimes I just don't feel like it. I'm bad for forgetting about dishes too. I dont' know how I do it, but I do. The dishes get done though.

I like to do the dishes and I cant go to bed with them in the sink, so after a meal I like to sit and chat for a bit while I enjoy an after dinner cup of coffee than do the dishes. Its just the two of us here now so there are not to many but if we have the kids over for dinner there are quite a few so the girls usually chip in and help.

When my 2 grand daughters here - 8 and 2 - i literally use most every dish I have! Those two eat constantly! And the thing is, they only eat that much for me! At their respective homes, they don't eat as well! Not sure why, but I feed them healthy and as long as it is something healthy nad they like it, they can have it! My 2 yo loves green beans - with mustard! She'd rather havea those than cookies or other snacks - even her favorite Yogos - she'll will put the Yogo's down when the green beans are offered! But I have a (small) kitchen literally totally full of dirty dishes as I have had both of them yesterday and most of today! I just don't ahve the time to do them all and when I do find the time, I am so exhausted, dishes are the last thing I want to do! But I do have to get of MyLot and go do them. I don't complain mucha s I won't see the one until next wednesday and the other for 10 days, so I spend as much time with them - - the dishes can wait!

I know exactly what you mean and I think that it is so much more important to be able to spend some nice time with someone we love than to trade that special time to do the dishes. THe dishes will still be there, but one day, the ones we love might not be.

I generally do the plates after a meal, but I have to confess ther est normally waits for the next day! Is that terrible? Obviously the times I do it after dinner it is lovely to come down to everything clean in the morning

Not terrible for sure. I sometimes fill the pots with water and wait for the next morning, specially if there's something that will take some more effort to clean and will benefit from being with water during the night :)

Yes, a bit after for me too. I just like to have a bit after eating to relax, talk or even go on a small walk, specially at night. It helps my digestion and doesn't make a difference if I do the dishes right now or in half an hour:)

HI arkaf61, i never do the dishes. they are all done by my maid servant. i just dont like that part of work in my daily chores. i do only when my servant is on leave. and that too i take the help of my hubby i just cant complete it without him. he is a very good dish washer. but when our servant is on leave we dont leave it on other day we clean all the dishes that very day before going to bed.

I've heard once doing dishes is good for the soul :) Maybe be, or not but I actually enjoy doing them - at least sometimes:) We also do them before going to bed, but we prefer to wait a bit before starting. Just to relax and settle the digestion.

I find that relaxing a bit instead of rushing to do them helps my digestion, specially when I have a chance of taking a small walk. Then I come back wash the dishes and still feel great :)

Depends on whether we have company or not and how late we ate that night. I do like to get right up and get dishes done so I can relax, but if we have company I will leave them for later. Friends first! And I really really try to clean up as I go, so not usually a lot left to do.

I like to clean up as I go too. In the end there is less to do which is perfect. But I rather wait a bit before I do them.

There is no right or wrong, of course. Each person has her/his own way of doing things. I like to do them a little after not because I feel lazy but because I enjoy relaxing a bit after each meal.
