As some of you know....I'm from Germany and that kind of made me wonder about how many people have been there before.I live in the U.S. now and I miss it dearly at times....especially the food. I loved going for a drive on Sunday....since you never have far to go to get to any place worth seeing. So have you been to Germany and what did you think about it?What are the things you liked the most or the least? Where did you go and what all did you get to see while you were there? Who knows.....some of you may even have been to my home town.

No I have never been to Germany but my anciestors came from Germany. The name of the town is Dickenschied. My grandfather and I have been doing family history and I am trying to find out more information on my family and the town. My grandfather received a letter from someone in Germany about our family and it was written in German then they translated it into english. I thought that was so cool. I have always wanted to learn German. I think mainly because of our family being from there.

That is so cool.....a helped a friend of mine with his family history years ago.We ended up tracing some of his ancestors back to the Heidelberg region. Wouldn't it be just awsome if you you could find some relatives(even if distant)? I did a search on the town you mentioned....but I could not find very much on the town it self.Looks like it's in the region called Hunsrueck....which is not all that far from where I grew up at and I do recognize some of the towns close to Dickenschied. I wish you ggod luck with your search and hopefully you will get to visit there someday.

Oh I went to Germany last year! But it was only for half a day, I was staying at my cousin's in Switzerland and we went traveling around other countries. While in Germany we went to this goooorgeous island of flowers (Bloomeninsel Mainau) it was so beautiful there. And we took a ferry! I love ferries. Europe is so beautiful, it seriously makes the US look like the dung you might find around your toilet. Lol.

Why yes I have. I lived in JHQ, Rheindhalen for 3 years when my dad was in the Royal Air Force. It was a British community but I saw a lot of Germany while I was there and loved it. It is the best place I lived. My dad still lives out there in Beilefeld.

Yes, I've been to Germany a few times and I absolutely love it! The families who so kindly hosted my friends and I were so wonderful and they took really good care of us, it's like staying with our own families back home. :) We visited the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Mainz and Wiesbaden plus a few small villages. So far I haven't had the chance to visit East Germany yet, though I would love to. I enjoyed my trips to Germany tremendously and really look forward to visiting Germany again some time in the future. It's a wonderful place and everyone should go there! :)

Hi, yes I've been to Germany. It was about 5 years ago and I went with my best friend to visit her brother in Aachen. Whilst there we also stayed in Dusseldorf (I love Konin's allee?? and the rundturn? sorry useless at spelling) and we also visited Koln or Cologne as many know it. It's a great place and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. I must say though, some people were not as friendly as they could have been (maybe because we're from the UK?) but that was the minority rather that the majority. Overall a very positive feel to the place and would certainly return if the opportunity arose.
