Bath towels.....

Do you use a bath towel more than once before tossing it in the hamper? I shower every morning and use 2 towels. One for my hair and one to dry my body off. After my shower I hang the towels to dry in the bathroom and I'll reuse them twice before tossing them in the hamper. I figure my body is clean after the shower, so why not reuse them one more time and save on laundry.

I only use one bath towel everyday, but use the same towel for anywhere from 3-6 days. Like you, I want to try and save on the laundry as much as possible. The problem is I need to get everyone else in the house to understand this concept. I don't think they realize how much laundry is caused by just one towel a person every day! It adds up quickly!

I agree with you completely. You are clean when using them and so they really arent getting dirty, so why not it saves on water bill and makes less laundry. The only problem i have is that our bathroom for some reason stays very damp so the towels may not dry very fast and they get a musty smell to them so mine may get tossed aside before they are able to be used again.

I hang my towels on an over-the-door towel rack. When my bathroom door is open, which it is when not in use, the towels are actually hanging over the air vent. So whether it be heat from the furnace or air from the air conditioner, they get well dried and aired out.

Mine are hung much like yours and they too are over a vent but they only get dried in the winter when i have the heater on we dont have central air :( and i have to keep my door shut all the time because i have a 2 year old son who like to play in the toilet YUCK LOL That is why i think it is so damp in there it gets so warm in the summer from not being open.

i do the same..its not like they are dirty. they are to dry your CLEAN body..so big deal. the only reason i ever change them is because the excess water on teh towel is a breeding ground for bacteria, and it just smells a bit like rotten water if you reuse it for wayyyy to long..trust me ive tried. but yes, i agree. changing it everyday is a waster of energy water and detergent.

I use one towel to dry my hair and then my body. And I DO NOT reuse it. But I noticed when I lived with my parents that they reuse the towels. I find it gross, but I know it doesn't really hurt anything.

We also have assigned towels so that if you are using a used towel at least it is used by you.

I tend to reuse my towels too. As long as I hang them to dry, I'll reuse them for a couple days and then get clean ones.

I do the same thing, 2 towels that I use 3 or so times before tossing into the wash. They're not dirty, I have enough laundry to do & too much washing wears them out faster I find.

For me, I normally use it for a few days, then toss it in the laundry. My rationale is that I am quite thoroughly cleaned after the shower already. So theoretically, this towel will remain clean even after I use it to dry myself. But because of the dampness and dirt that is always present, we still need to wash it every now and then.

I have 6 people in my house and for some reason my children and husband don't seem to understand the concept that you are clean when you get out of the shower. I have to wash a load of towels each day. I use the same 2 towels for 3 days before trading them in for fresh ones.

Hi friend, I am using only one towel for every thing. At morning after washing face i use the towel to clean face. Then after bath i shower my body with the same towel. And for every cleaning on my body i use the same towel. I think one towel is enough for all that. Because towel can absorb too much water instead of caring its own water. Explanation is not correct but I hope you got it. Anyway thank you for sharing your life style with us and Also for giving a chance for me to respond on your discussion........ Good luck dear..........

Wow, I never even considered washing towels after every use. I only do laundry once a week, so using a new towel every shower would mean 14 towels a week instead of two. And probably a couple extra loads of laundry. I think it's pretty wasteful to wash towels so much, and your towels will wear out quicker. Since you're clean when you get out of the shower, why would you replace your towels everyday? You don't change your sheets everyday. (unless you do, and then I'm more surprised)

I can't do that. No offense but I think it's gross. I know I'm clean and all but I just can't do it. Those towels touch my private area and I couldn't imagine reusing it. I do use two towels too like yourself. One for my body and one for my hair. I do that because I like a nice dry towel for my body and after I dry my hair with the towel it's not so dry anymore LOL. I'm also a stickler for being extremely dry before I put any clothes on. My hubby can come out of the bathroom and beads of water still all over his back and be fine with it. Not me. I found out my sister is the same way. LOL

No I actually don't but now that you mention it - it's something I will consider doing in the future. I hadn't thought about re-using that one before.

Hi daycarepal, just like you, I do toss my towel after using it more than once. It's not practical and such a waste to wash towels that are still in fact, clean. If that's the case, we should then be using disposable towels so we don't have to wash them anymore and it just goes straight to the bin. We can save a lot on soap, water, electricity and time by not being too eager to dump our towels in the laundry.

I use a towel more than once, usually 3-4 times, unless one of my daughters has grabbed mine to use it. I just wish my daughters could have gotten the concept of hanging the towel up after they were done and used it a few more times. Needless to say that never happened.

Nothing like walking into my daughter's room in the middle of the night and stepping on a wet towel that was thrown on the floor. Eeeww!

i use 2 towels as well.. And i usually change it after a week, at max~~ Eventhough we have a housekeeper for laundry, I still don't want to trouble her with my towels. :)

I usually use it a few times...only 1 though because i dont have much hair to dry. I'm a college student that's really just too lazy to do laundry. I also wear pants more than once sometimes, and i figure that's even dirtier, so who cares, haha. I dont think I stink, lol. Jeez, now I'm all self conscious!

well, I have to be honest, I use them 3 - 4 times before washing them again... sometimes even 5! I mean I'm sure that my body will be clean after showering, and I only wash them because sometimes they smell wet..
