Ok, last two days I was working at local hotel, doing my film production.
On Sunday air condition was set up at 58F with fans blowing cold air over my head.
The outside temperature was about 87F, everybody was wearing light tops..
After 10 hours of freezing…I am still cold…
Today I have tried everything…hot bathtub, hot tea…nothing works…
I can not breathe….
I spoke with someone from hotel who said that he brings his winter coat to work.
I wish to know; maybe I would bring my winter coat…
Have you ever had to work or be in arctic cold during hot summer?

Nope you're not the only one...One of the reasons I really don't enjoy going to the movies anymore during the summer --when of course all the major movies are out, is that is too dang cold in the movie theatre...I just can't enjoy watching and I don't feel like being dressed up as if I were taking a trip to the North pole to see a movie--not only movies but a lot of stores will be freezing...then you go outside to 90-degree weather and I feel like falling flat on my face from the drastic temperature difference

WOW, which i can't understand is that, if all of you feel too cold and uncomfortable, why the operator still do something so stupid? And they should know if the air-conditioner blow cold air, it will waste more electronic power.

Back in 80's someone said that ideal temperature for working people is about 68F, most places start AC in the beginning of the season at 65F (?)...and never touch it again...I used to work in the office with crazy owner who used to set up 55F (about 13C)...during the summer...

Why ot tell the operator to adjust the temperature? I think most of the guys can't enduce this tough condition, and i think you can suggest the manager of the hotel to pay attention of it.

There is no way to find the manager on Sunday, plus, it is one of the biggest hotels in the city....high rise..I think it has over 80 floors and we were in the lower level room with 500 people in...

Perhaps, you won't believe...right at this moment I am feeling uncomfortable due to chilling effect on AC, which cools first my desk...(also outside temperature is not very high 34 degree centigrate).
I can well understand your position.
Best of Luck!

I never stay in a hotel here. I don't know if they supposed to set up temperature a lot lower than outside. Sounds like central AC to me, so there is no way to set it up differently.

yes the mall will be a bit cooler inside, but most places they will open the door if they can, if not then they'll use AC. But if I remember correctly, it was cool, not freezing cold that you will need sweater

hi my friend I am going out right now and driving work. so I take the opportunity to wish you a wonderful day and let's hope in a warmer climate!!! I hate air conditioned when set too cold.I think this is crazy because we have to stay well and not suffer from cold!!! Of course this is dangerous for our health because we can ill when the difference between indoor and outdoor temperature is too high. Here in Italy they usually choose light air conditioning temperature, maybe because we are quite used to hot!!!!! anyway I have often something to warm me up..just taking a foulard with me!!!! kisses mb

I always have my air cranked up really high in the hot summer months but it is mainly to get rid of the humidity in the air. I agree with those who commented about movie theatres being freezing cold all the time. Why do they keep it so cold in there? I like to be comfortable and cool at the same time!

Getting rid of humidity is fine, but freezing cold is not...
Stay cold, but not too cold...

I am with you there. I can't stand it when it is always cold wherever I go. That is why I take my sweather or sweat shirt with me wherever I go.

I never needed work to a place like these but many times I visited places with freezing cold form air condition.
I remember once ,a very hot day after I walked under the sun I went to a bank, had many people so I needed wait was so freezing there and the different form so much hot to so much cold was I fell so dizzy and ill.
I have air conditions at my home but I never let be very cold. The different of the temperature if is so different is too bad for the health.
I hope you find soon a solution for you.

Yep- I sit here now in my office with a short sleeve sweater on and slacks- over the top is a long sleeve sweater- It’s cold in here- My 2 big bosses both wear suits and ties- and crank the a/c on- because they are hot- Hello! Take you jacket off- I am constantly telling them how cold it is- Some days I even have my little heater on- it just isn’t right- It’s 90 out and I’m freezing inside- Makes going outside hard- I have a hard time breathing and I have to go to another softball game in the heat- So nope- it’s not just you!

Believe it or not I envy you. Not really, but the opposite is the norm where I live in Thailand, where winter lasts for about (it seems like) one week. Just reading your post cooled me down a little. However, I have traveled around Lapland so I can sympathize with you. Take your coat next time.

ha, ha...easy to say, when outdoor is near 90 F and people are wearing light clothes....
On Sat in the same place was over 75F, so no one was expecting freezing cold....

i thought you set your own temperature when you at the hotel, that is how i usally do it, if i feel cold i turn it down, unless you dont have control of it it is a different story, so i dunno what to tell you i am sorry

At home I go from one room my brother controls the AC, and it's almost a walk in refridgerator. The other room just has a fan so is warm. I like the AC like that for about 15 minutes but then go for a sweatshirt or blanket, the other room I am in for 15 minutes and start to sweat days like today over 90F.
I used to work in restaurant so I would go from the grill or oven to walk-in refridge or freezer. From sweating to icing, laughs. I would bring 2 shirts with me and a towel too. Being mostly a cold weeather lover, I can deal with the cold better then the hear.
btw ... I've been told I give great hot hugs
huuuuuugggggggggggwwwwwwwwwwww you.
