Would you buy a $250,000 watch?

Just heard about a watch that costs $250,000 and I almost fell off my chair. Who in their right mind would pay that much money for anything that could be so easily lost or stolen. In some states, you can buy a fairly nice home for that amount of money.
I'm not good with jewelry, so I don't like to spend a lot on it. I've spent twenty or thirty dollars on a really cheap watch, but never more. Don't get me wrong. I love watches, and jewelry, and spending money. But, I've got a kid, so there are things way more important than a time piece. Sorry, Movado!
What about you? What's the most amount of money you've ever spent on a watch?

NO! I wont spend that much on some watch only. thats too extravagant! If i have that money, id definitely invest it on something else.
My cousin and his wife had a great fight when he arrived from abroad because he bought this P100,000.00 worth of tag hueur watch..later on, it got some scratch on the glass and one time he have to spank his eldest son, because he accidentally tripped on the watch and it fell. good things theres no damage on it, what more if there is? what could he have to my nephew? for just the watch?

i definitely wouldn't... even though i am a millionaire and i can afford it, i wouldn't waste my money just for a watch... i can use it for better use... i feel very selfish if i spend $250.000 just for a watch while there are still so many people out there are living in poverty and can't even afford to have a decent meal everyday... and you are very right... $250.000 can definitely get me a very nice house here... even lesser than that... the most i will spend on a watch is $100 and no more...

There is no way that I would buy a watch that cost that much money. I would rather buy a nice house with that money than buy a watch. Watches do not last that long so why pay that much for one. You could also get a nice new car or take a trip around the world or do home improvements with that kind of money. I would want something that lasted a long time.

I don't wear watches and would never spend more than $50. I don't know how you could wear a $250,000 watch and keep someone from stealing it. That is a bit crazy, even for someone who could afford to buy it. So you have a watch worth a quarter million, big deal. All it can do is tell time. For a quarter mill, you could buy so many other things that would be much more useful.

That is insane. You can buy an estate with acreage here for that much money. I think the most expensive watch I ever owned was $20, but my favorite watch I got on clearance $2 and I'm proud of that, I hate nothing more than over paying for things.

That is definitely the most expensive watch I have ever heard of. It better be a pretty nice watch for that kind of money. I have spent about $150 for a very nice watch. And that was kind of expensive. I guess when you have that much money you can afford to pay that much for a watch.

NO, I would never EVER spend that on a watch. what if I lost it? Or I got mugged? I couldn't live with myself!
I think you have to spend money on objects, in the right proportion so that it doesn't bother you if something happens to it...
For instance, what's the point in having a great new car if you're going to cry like a baby at the very first scratch it gets? can you afford re painting?

i own a watch 2years back and it costed me only 400 bucks
i think i dont want a watch some huge price
i use it only to make myself aware of what the time is coz when im with ma frds i usually forget what the thime is and get indluged in some talk.
i dont use a watch as a piece of show off so i really doesnt matter me what the cost of ma watch is
and i cant even afford to get myself a costly watch/

I won a Rolex(it was the cheapest version) and it was about $3000 retail. I sold that to a local jeweler for $1800 b/c he had a buyer for it immediately and I took that money and bought a Movado instead for about $1000 total. I liked the look of the Movado a lot better anyways, but I probably wouldn't have spent that much on my own.

Even if I was very very wealthy, there's no way I would spend $250,000 on a watch. That is a HUGE amount of money. I would have so much guilt if I bought something like that. I could put that amount of money to better use, that's for sure! I could use that money to secure my families future....I could use it to pay off my mortgage....I could use it to pay off my fathers mortgage....I could put it in the bank for my children to inherit someday. Oh so many more useful things rather than buying a watch.

No thanks! I'd rather pay off my van, and at least put a down payment on a super sweet house! I dont really care for watches or jewerly though. I lose them, or break them so to me it isnt worth it, I dont even have a watch at the moment. lol. The most I spend was $50 I believe on a fossil brand watch.

That is just ridiculous. I mean where do we get off being so selfish. Just because you have money to throw around that doenst mean that you ought to flaunt it. Think of the hundreds of Somali children or Sudanese children that could get a decent hot meal from that kind of money. Why should they even make a watch and set that as the prize anyway.
Whatever happened to the discipline of simplicity?
