The TYPES of posts SUBMITTED to MyLot CHANGE .....

As of lately I have noticed that my earnings have changed considerable at myLot, I was unsure if it was due to them cleaning up the community or if, in fact, I had been not earning what I had been making the previous 8 months I have been a member. So for three days straight I wrote to earnings admin with my calculation of responses and discussions posted and any pictures I might have posted with a question as to how did they come up with my earnings and that my numbers did not match as to what I was earning (not even $0.1 for a response, more like half a cent for each response and the same on photos).
Today, I received my answer ....algorithm is constantly changing due to the fact that the types of posts submitted to myLot change.
Any thoughts on this???

I did notice this morning when my earnings were updated that it was much lower than I expected. With being so busy other places I haven't really kept track of what I was doing but was very surprised this morning as I was fairly active yesterday...
Since I joined myLot 6 months ago the earnings rate has always been a mystery but I usually had a pretty close guesstimate of what I might earn.
2 things I have noticed that I think could make a difference in what is going on with discussions.
#1 I am seeing more and more duplicate discussions - my feeling is that people are not doing a search for previous discussions before posting new one - fewer searches means lower earnings FOR myLot so less to pay members...
#2 I can not tell you the number of discussions I delete day after day, from my friends, that are low quality - one liners, stupid nonscence discussions posted you can tell merely to post a discussion, not to actually discuss anything.
#3 Ok, I can't count - I have seen a lot of discussions being deleted for various reasons, plagerized, referral links, obvious breaking of guidelines.
I think all of these things effect everyone and our earnings.
I could be totally off on this, just my thoughts.

I have seen alot of duplicate posts, especially when something happens in the news, it is like that is all they talk about, myself, I find starting new discussions more difficult than responding, so unless I have something I want to say I would rather just keep quiet, easier on me. But my earnings have been so pittiful the past week I keep asking myself why I come here. I have also found some new interests in my monthly earnings and at this rate I am unsure how much time I will spend at myLot.
Thanks for responding, my friend, it is always appreciated!

I'm the same way with discussions - I find it hard to come up with original ideas and have been spending the majority of my time here doing responses.

I have just been so disgusted at my earnings, there for several months I had built it up to a $1.00 a day, and I have not changed my habits or done anything differently, in fact, I just purchased a new computer and was using it more and more, being on here, getting used to it's touch and feel. The discussions here have been so poor rated these days I have been craving for something worth while to talk about other than the daily news and who is going to watch what television program ... thanks for responding, my friend, it is always appreciated!

I don't really believe their response to you. There are still a lot of consistent discussions on good topics, with great responses.
There have been a few discussions about this very issue lately. Some people have come to the conclusion that My Lot admin are earning less, & thus paying us less.
That seems the most likely reasoon. I don't think admin are going to well us this.
Some people even think that My Lot could be on their way out, which is a pity.

I was shocked also. But you might be on to something with myLot being on the out, I would hate to see it go away, I have made so many friends here, thanks for responding, it is always appreciated!

Your response sounds quite reasonable. And what a shame it would be if myLot were to go belly-up! :(

Quote: "algorithm is constantly changing due to the fact that the types of posts submitted to myLot change."
Quite frankly....that makes no sense to me at all!!! I have been here almost 9 months and my responses are the same. Ok..no wait. My responses are better than what they were when I first started. Because when I first started I wasn't so sure about my writing. Now, I have gotten used to it and my writing is more lengthy.
So, what has changed? I know many users here that are the same through the months also.
I think that the algorithm is constantly changing because they are not earning enough money. But at the same time, what do they expect? They give us this generic answers and do not follow up on private messages about people that are reported to have been copying and pasting. So, they are going to be paying for those that are cheating and I am NOT going to spend 4 hours reporting the 500 responses that one user can accumulate faster than I can report due to the copy/paste.
The posts to myLot changing???? Nope. They seem the same to me if not better because we don't have the poll discussions anymore either.
Example.....Coke or Pepsi? How many times did we see that discussion 9 months ago here?

I still see the "Yippee, I made my goal", or "Ha Ha Ha I earned four cents per post discussions". I still see recipes, but they are set up differently. I do not know the difference. Two or three days I made over 4 cents per post, then three days running I made less than a penny per post. I still have someone on my friend list that blasts me with discussions, 75-80% of which I cannot answer. I think I am going to do something else for awhile. Just check in. No I am not quitting, but when good, honest effort pays so little I am compelled to do something else.

Or the I have my 300 posts .. yeah I see those all the time, and up to a few days ago I was earning up to $0.3 to $0.4 per post, but lately it is downright disgusting what I am making here. I don't blame you if you left either, I have some new ventures on the horizon that myLot might be a thing of the past if things don't change. Thanks for responding, my friend, it is always appreciated!

i really wonder how the algorithm works and how they determine the types of posts submitted to the forum. i don't think we will ever find out.

We will never know, it clearly states that in FAQ that they have their own system and it is up to them to keep it that way. I really don't care, I just want my earnings to go back up to what they were a week ago. Thanks for responding, it is truly appreciated!

yes, you are right. it's in the FAQs. and like you, i really don't care either. another thing that makes me wonder is when and if they actually update our earnings. i have noticed for a few days now that my earnings are not updated as often as they used to. for example, i made quite a number of posts/responses yesterday. but when i checked my account this morning, it says it's been updated but the amount didn't change. what's up with that?

Hum...sounds like a brush off to me. Algorithm? I would not understand what that is and I'd be willing to bet not many others would either. I really don't pay much attention to what I earn, so I had not thought about this till you mentioned it. From what you describe they have not really answered the question. Sounds like spin to me.

Algorithm is programmers speak.
For 'algorithm' read 'calculation method' or 'formula'.

yes, i have been realising as well that my earnings had been decreasing lately here but i don't really care too much about it as i am here more for the fun and enjoyment rather than the money... i am quite happy and grateful with whatever they are paying me as long as they are still paying... :-)

Boy this is new!! I'm not an active member of mylot and keep going n coming, but I've been here since long and this I never heard of! This is amazing . It helps make earning more fair I think. Cheers to Mylot: I always thought mylot should do this to make the site better, mylot should do that. Now I've found they're doing it the best way. And they responded to your e-mail? That's great, because a lot of members used to flood them with mails previously but they never responded to any of the queries, so it's changing!

I have found that the only way to get myLot to respond to your message is to sugar coat them and tell them how wonderful they are and how happy you are as a member, my last email to them was full of that ... blah blah blah ... this is rubbish what they have said to us, as members of this community, I am sorry to say, I am not proud of myLot, I have been here for 8 months and I would say my rating here is pretty good, I responds daily to post and have been earning on a regular basis for the past 3 months over a $1.00 a day. I have over 21 pages of Best Responses behind me. These days I am lucky if I earn $0.12 a day, quite a bit of difference from a week ago. I have not changed, nor have my discussions or responses thereto changed, in fact, I believe they are longer and in more detail than when I first started, so you tell me, why have my earnings dropped so drastically and yet for myLot to send me such a lame response!!!

that seems a very strange answer to give. If the algorithem is constantly changing, who doesnt it ever rise. I have noticed a consistent downward slide in earnings from february this year, but never a rise so i dont see how the nature of discussions effects this?

Hello texas. You're not the only who's flabbergasted with our poor earnings lately. When I started out as a newbie, I can easily earned over $1 a day. I can't say the same thing nowadays though. Like what you mentioned, one long liner response is cut down to half a cent only.
I have a lot of my friends who are not even active anymore. I'm afraid I'm also going to join in their league. I continue to hang on because of my friends otherwise, I will be out of here now.

If you knew me you would know that I don't do one liner discussions or responses thereto and I have done nothing different in my responses or discussions on a daily basis to jump from $1.00 a day to $0.12!! My discussions and responses are always at least 4 lines long or more in most cases, therefore I do not feel I deserve less than a penny for my responses or discussion, would you if you put this much effort into doing this? I think NOT!

Dear texasclassygal
I really don't know what's happening with our earnings here on mylot .. It always keeps on changing .. and I have always found members wondering the same thing .. Even I wonder why this happens .. then I have got the answer -- that it happens because some discussions are getting deleted. So because we participated in a violated discussion and the discussion got deleted -- our earning got reduced because of this. Still I have no regrets .. It will not stop me from doing mylotting .. Happy mylotting to you my dear friend :)

I am sorry I don't believe the discussion deletion thing. I went from $1.00 a day to $0.12 a day and my discussions or responses thereto are making less than a penny, so wouldn't you wonder what is going on? I don't buy the discussion deletion, not when it is this much concerned. Thanks for responding!

What I have noticed is that I am having a harder and harder time finding discussions I want to respond to. It seems that the subjects repeat themselves over and over. Or, everything is those infamous one-liners. I like myLot so I will just keep browsing for discussions I am interested in.

maybe the admins have come up with a new algorithm for earnings. algorithms change to match the problems they face. i also think they are "cleaning" up mylot of nonsesne posted just for earnings sake. hope they remove the inactive users so we know how many active users there actually are.

Mine are a lot lower too, which has prompted me to start going to Gather a lot more.
http://www.gather.com/inviteLanding.jsp?parentMemberId=321651&tc=14
While Gather has a pretty limited number of gift cards you can choose from I think it pays out a lot better so figure I'd rather do that if I can.

Well here is something for you to chew over.
I know that someone new here earned 8 cents in a day by doing this:-
Opening 2 discussions - each discussion was one sentance of under 40 words. One discussion had two replies, the other none.
Posted 14 replies to other discussions - all 1 liners containing the following words:- 10,28,10,18,17,27,20,14,17,22,24,16,10,29 words.
By my reckoning, I'm suprised he earned 8 cents but you can see that a lot of the posts earned zilch.
Quality counts here, ladies and gentlemen. I reckon your posts need to be 50/80 words to be paid.

I have been a member of this community for over 8 months and earned on a average $0.80 to $1.25 a day and then all of a sudden I am earning $0.12 a day, perhaps next time you should read the entire post before responding to it.

If you knew anything about me you would know that I do write more than one liners in my posts and in my discussions as displayed here, I did not earn my 99/100 rating from doing one liners

Don't get snotty TCG, I have read all the posts.
My comment above was to give you one of the reasons why earnings are down. We have to write a lot more in each post just to earn 1 cent let alone the 4 cents a post that was possible last month and before.
I am in exactly the same boat as you and my 840 referrals have earned me a lot, lot less each day than before so it is the same right across the board.

Uhhhmmmm....yeah I have a thought on this......What does a type of post have to do with how much you make?
Unless you just answer with yes or no.....or even those one liners.....should your pay not saty the same?
I just don't get it.I really wish someone would explain it to me in a bit more detail.

to be honest, i don't understand how they calculate the earnings. i know i'm just new here, but i noticed about 2 weeks ago, my earnings for the day that i posted responses and discussions more earned less than the day i did less of postings and responses.
so, i really don't know how to earn much. since it's not the quantity of postings. i really don't understand how.

i have no idea what algorithm is. But i do agree with alot of the commenters that the discussion are getting weak. I have only been on here maybe a month if that and i already don't know what to write about or what discussions to respnd to because the discussions are weak or i feel that i would be starting a discussion that some one else already did like a week ago.

I think mylot should at least give some hint on their algorithm. From last few months I have seen that many quality users are leaving mylot due to very low per post earnings.
I believe mylot staff is working on how to handle with duplicate posts. I have tried this with my previous account and I was earning 5 to 6 $ per day. I tried doing this as many duplicate responses were still active on same type of discussions. And after 7-8 days they have canceled my account.
I apologized to them and suggested that duplicate responses should be deleted or should have some indicator which can indicate that particular response is not void due to so and so reasons. When new users see, such responses on similar type of discussions they try hard to complete 500 mark and then use copy-paste privilege wrongly.
Mylot should also mention modify their guideline as if any user misuse this privilege,his/her account with mylot would be canceled.
Mylot is not still up to the mark in terms of payment. If quality users are not earning good enough then it is not good example for the new user who are coming in.
So, I suggest that they should think over it and reveal few important things to their user to earn, learn, share and enjoy discuss here with much better quality discussion.
Thanks for reading.
