got home...we looked everywhere..just thinking he wandered off..Come to find out our neighbor across the street told us that he thought the people watching our house took our cat...they never said anything to us when we got back home..we just thought he was lost..I believe they said he wandered off...Later they confessed..weeks later..we were so mad...Supposedly our cat hurt his leg and they didn't know what to do..so they took him to the humane society..how about taking him to the vet..pick up the phone and call us...What would you have done? We were so angry we never spoke to them again...It was too late to go get our cat, if that is where he was..they probably lied about that too!

That is awful! Who is the person watching your house? I hope you get in touch with them and tell them a big lawsuit is coming their way! You trusted them to take care of your cat and they got rid of it! I would be so angry if something like this happened with my cat, I love her! And I can't believe the Humane Society would take a cat from people that didn't own him!

Oh I see. Well whatever they did it was terrible of them to lose your cat and then not take responsibility. I would be soo mad if I were you (I'm sure you are though!)
If it were me I would def. threaten them with a lawsuit if they didn't get me my cat back or give me the real explanation.
I hope you find your cat some way! Or that he makes his way home! I'm sorry you lost him :( Good luck!

I am just wondering if that is what they really did..I mean they lied in the first place so I am not sure they are telling the truth about the humane society...

Oh my goodness! that is such a bad news! how can they even do that. That is just pure stupidity! I would seriously be so mad at them and even try to seek revenge. Why would you put down a cat just becasue it hurt its leg!! OMG
If it was me, i would definitely have called the VET and also the family who owns the cat. I did not know that they had the right to do that, i thought only the owners of the pet is allowed to do so, in Hong Kong, each dog has a microchip inserted somewhere in its body, we tried to put down a dog because it was really sick, but only found out that we did not own it, we found it, and could not end its painful life .

Some people are just so stupid, even ones we thought were our friends...all they had to do was call us...microchipping is a good thing...that is sad you could not help the dog...thank you.

hhmmm.... yes microchipping is pretty useful... by the way, the dog ended up not dying and is still healthy today =D so i am glad we did not take it to be put down. I am sorry again, to hear that your cat was so unfortunate, left in hands of some stupid people.... You should have asked for compensation, so they have to buy you a new cat or something, although it would never heal you sadness of losing a cat you loved T_T
Hope you get better soon (emotionally)

How utterly thoughtless, and I thought what my friend did was bad. She was supposed to be cat sitting for me and she lost the keys to my apartment! I was so mad because they weren't copies they were my husband's set and I told her to be especially careful with them. To make matters worse she didn't call me about it, I called her to see how my kitty was doing and she had to admit she had lost the keys! My kitties are my babies, I overnighted her a set of keys and next time I am asking a different friend to cat sit. I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. People can be so terribly cruel. I guess they just don't realize how important our pets are to us. I would be devastated is something happened to my girls.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your pet and that these people's stupidity is the cause of so much grief.
Something similar happened to my mom when she was younger. She had a little miniature poodle cross named Jellybean and when her family went on vacation, they left the dog at home for the housesitter to take care of. The housesitter neglected to call them when JB started to act like she was feeling poorly (and she probably was.. nerves, loneliness, anxiety) so she took her to the vet to have her put down without telling them. It was only when they got home that she'd admitted what she had done and that the local vet was waiting for them to pay the fee and pick up her ashes.

How sad. I don't know why people can't be more responsible. We always took our pets with us if we could. I know sometimes it's not possible. If it had been me taking care of someone's pet I would have had a number to call and the vet they used incase something happened. I know one time we couldn't take our pets with us and had to be gone. Some friends took them to look after them the only problem they had was one of the dogs got out of their yard and when we got back we made daily trips to the city pound until he turned up.

Some people are just morons, but these people take the cake. What would they have done if they had been babysitting for you... you probably don't want to ask yourself that question. I feel horrible about this and I am so sorry you lost your cat. I just hope the humane society took good care of him and even found him a good new home (with people that will know what to do if he gets hurt again.)
It is shameful to think that there are so many people in the world who lack common sense.
I am sorry you had to deal with these types of people firsthand, and hope that you never have to experience something like that again.

That's terrible. What happened to the people who were looking after your house? i would not have them take care of the house anymore - very irresponsible. I would of been very upset at that!

With friends like that who needs enemies??? I would be absolutely devastated if I were in your shoes and i would be so mad at these people that were so called friends, let me tell you they wouldnt be friends any more! How could they do something like that? I would definitely have taken the cat to the vets or rung you or something, to take them to the humane society would not have even entered my head! I feel terrible for you loosing a pet in that way!

Oh my goodness! How awful! I would have been devastated! If I was those neighbors I would be so ashamed! You are right, they should have called or taken to the vet. I'm sure you would have reimbursed them for any fees or whatever. That is someone's family friend, and they were so disrespectful, and inconsiderate! I'm so sorry that happened to you! Really, really sad!

I would have probably lost my temper. I cannot imagine how some people could be uncaring. Your neighbor knows for a fact that you guys cared and loved your cat. I just hope that wherever your cat is, he/she is alright. If that happened to me, I would file a complaint and give that person a piece of my mind. There was an incident in our city that a neighbor's dog - a K9 labrador was killed and eaten by another neighbor during a drunken spree while the owner and his family was on vacation. The owner filed a criminal case against the neighbor. Eventually, both parties entered into an amicable settlement.

Yep, all they had to do was call us...we had already discussed what to do if something happened to the animals or the house...call us...how hard is that.....

Wow. And those are people that you trusted enough to watch your house!!Honestly thats appalling and I think that you are right in not talking to them. They should have taken him to a vet, next time you go on vacation make sure to leave your vets number and your vets emergency number. This way even if you are out of town they know where to take the animal and that place will have records of your animal. Also in a situation like that the vet should be able to bill you, not the people who brought the cat in.

Ugh - HOW AWFUL!
I am so sorry! People like that just don't make any sense to me. Really - it isn't as if you would have been too upset about the animal being hurt. Things like that happen all of the time. But how stupid can you be not to think there would be something weird about the animal suddenly not being there?!?
So sorry again - *hugz*

That is just terrible. They should have phoned you guys and let you make the decision on what should be done. Our youngest kitty BabyBJ hurt his leg and couldn't walk on it. We are not very rich so we did wait the night keeping watch to see how he was doing and if he didn't get better in the morning we were going to go to the vet no matter what the cost was. Luckily he was better in the morning and all was fine. He is one of the family and we would do anything for him. Too bad those neighbors never felt the love of a pet to understand how much your kitty meant to you all. Bless you :)
