One of the email alerts that I receive that keeps me updated on new research in teh medical field sent this to me today. Some new research is showing (well, lending support to what we already researched ten years ago!) that drinking more than 2 glasses of a cola beverage per day is bad for the kidneys. The link to the full report is below. Do you drink a lot of cola? My husband is good for 4-5 per day, and I try so hard to get him to cut back. What about children, should parents try to limit their cola intake?

I drink mostly water even when we go out to eat I drink water or ice tea. Sometime I drink diet pepsi but nothing else.
I love water so I drink that instead of anything else.

I don't drink a lot of cola, or much carbonated beverages of any kind. It's interesting that research has made a link between that and kidney problems. When I watch my grandson (4 yr old), I don't give him colas at all. Maybe some gingerale when his tummy's upset, but for the most part it's juice or water. I think that cola is a habit many people get into, young and older. I never got into the habit, and I never let my kids get into the habit of drinking it. When they did get cola or other carbonated beverages, it was either at a party, or for a special treat once a week. I think it's all what you get used to, they still are that way today. Thanks for sharing the report, I'm going to pass the link along to a couple of friends who complain about their own cola habit...maybe this will sway them into finally tackling it! I think parents should try and limit their kids cola intake. Kids nowadays get too much of that, and junk food too, that isn't teaching them healthy habits at all.

I guess too much of anything is never good for you anyways. So, thanks for sharing this by the way.

We don't drink a lot of soda here. I used to drink lots and lots of soda. But I have diabetes and acid reflux now so it is rare that I drink anything bubbly or with caffeine. I drink water, water and more water (sometimes sun tea).
Of course, I think we should all limit how much soda we drink. Kids these days are bordering on obesity and cutting soda out of their diets would be a great start.

yes, parents should try to limit cola intake as models for their children,in addition, taking too much cola is harmful to themselves.
for me,when i was a child ,i like cola very much.but now ,i usually don't drink cola. because on one hand, i've heard that cola is not good for health. on the other hand, i like tea and water more. tea is good for health, and water is commonly considered the best drink for human being.so, i don't drink cola now.
thank for your report and wish your husband can drink less cola for his health. and wish you all the best!
by the way ,it's my first time coming to your topic, which feels great, thank you!
