Rant, inconsiderate people and fireworks late at night.

Last night we went to bed at around 10:30. This is our normal time for retiring for the evening when we have to work the following day. Our sleep was interrupted by someone letting off fireworks in their backyard. It went on for over an hour. Tonight it is the same. Fortunately we do not have to rise early tomorrow.

Don't you have a noise ordinance?..They sure were rude to even think about doing this so late..Some people do have to sleep so they can get up for work...

I am sure there is an ordinance, but it would be hard to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. We live in a rural area.

I would get a little upset also espically if I had to be at work the next day. If it keeps up every night I would report them to the police or ask them if they mind not shooting fireworks so late at night.

Yeah I know a few days after the 4th of July I could hear someone shoting them around my neighborhood but I couldn't figure it out either. Maybe it will stop soon.

That is one of those strange coincidences because the night before last and last night I had neighbors do the same thing. On the 4th of July all was quiet but now they decide to set them off and it has two of my dogs barking like mad and the third, who is a afraid of thunder, has turned into little ball of quivering fur. I wish they would at least do it earlier but no they have to wait until it is dark.

People who want to do illegal things and disrespectful things do them under the cover of darkness. As EB said, it is hard to pinpoint where they are then. I am all for people celebrating, but it is not special when it goes on and on, and on.

I hear ya, ElusiveButterfly! Fireworks are annoying sometimes. I've been hearing fireworks EVERY NIGHT for about the last 8 nights! They last for about 15 minutes, too, can you imagine? I'm not joking - at least 8 nights in a row! But then - I live down the street from the Calgary Stampede grounds haha Yeeehaaaawe (I will be able to go to bed earlier next week, thank goodness, once the Stampede rolls back out of town)

It's always like that around this time of year. I live way out in the country, and I can still hear my neighbors fireworks. I've gotten used to it, and now when I hear them I might go up on the deck to watch. I used to go visit my parents in Chicago, and everyone in the city seemed to have fireworks, even though fireworks are illegal there. I guess no matter where you are, people will be shooting off fireworks, and probably not thinking that someone else might have to sleep.

I hear you. I live in the a not so busy street, but there's a few young guys that moved next door. They are into the low ride cars and the loud music and the skidding tires at all times. They are always making noise specially at night, it's like they get energized for some reason. It irks me so much, I feel like yelling out the window. I mean, just because they don't have anything better to do the next day, doesn't mean they should be disrespecting the peace. The other day they were skidding tires and letting off fireworks all night! This must've went on until about 1 a.m and this wasn't even the 4th of July. The next day I went to work and barely could I keep my eyes open. What do you do with this situation? I mean, I hate to be a snitch and call the authorities, but it's driving me crazy. Every day, evening, nights, the weekends are worse for them partying, yelling, putting load music in thier cars with that loud base that gets you're ears throbbing, and then there's the skidding and making all that stinky smoke go off. What are you to do in this situation? Have you called the authorities on this? Would you? I understand you so much because I'm in the same boat you are. It's definitely irritating!

I hate fireworks too, they are not just annoying they are dangerous, thank heavens they are illegal in our area exept for a licenced person to have for big celebrations which I think they should be banned as well, I am sick of seeing them every time there is a big celebration, I think it would be better to just have a light show, people don't think how these things affect animals and not to mention how many kids end up in hospital from these things, and the waste of tax payers money is another thing...

That is terrible that people can be so rude and disrespectful like that. They should take the fireworks to a park or someplace away from neighborhoods where people could be sleeping. I hate it when our neighbors do that as well. Fireworks are illegal in Delaware so a person can get arrested or pay a hefty fine or both. Is it illegal where you live?

It is not illegal where we lived, but we had to get a permit. And, we were only allowed to shoot fireworks on a certain day, and also only certain times. So, people who were not letting off fireworks could get some sleep! :D

I would also be annoyed but I would also wanna know the reason to them shooting them. I am guessing that they are celibrating something special and they need darkness for them to be able to show, therefor the late hour. I think I would be irritated, but I also think I would be able to accept it if they were celibrating something special and it would just be for a day or 2 =)

In our State they would have comitted two offences. One, was having fireworks in the first place, which is aghainst the law here. They have been banned for over 30 years, unless at an official event. Secondly, is the excess noise act. Although this doesn't come into effect until midnight, it does vary depending on the type of noise. As fireworks not only disturb people, & especially babies, they also terrify dogs. Report these people to the police if they continue terrible noise at night.

Ok- that is rude- Sure it’s summer- but people still have to work- and neighbors need to be considerate of other people- I can see around the 4th of July- or on the weekends- It’s ok- to a point- If you live in town or have a bunch of neighbors- you have to be considerate- I live in the country with only a few neighbors- I still don’t make a lot of noise late at night-

I hate it when they do them at all hours. I can see when they do them before the 4th and on the 4th and even the day after..but after that they really just need to put them away and wait until next year to do them. They get so annoying, especially when you are trying to sleep

So, why were they letting off fireworks after the Fourth of July? I don't understand why they would be doing that. And, that late at night. Is there someone that you could have called to tell? I would try to have someone get them to stop it somehow! That is just insane! I hope that you have gotten it fixed! I am so sorry! Maybe you can finally get some sleep. :D

Does your city or parish have a noise ordinance? You could call the authorities on them. That would be my suggestion. If you don't want to cause problems with the neighbors on the other hand you may have to wait until they are out of poppers! Good luck. I know this is annoying. We had it here too. I think they finally ran out of fireworks here :)

Fireworks - they are beautiful to watch but not at 11 pm when you have to get up for work soon ...
lol ... yes I find this very annoying and rude as well ... here it is ten days after the Fourth of July and people are still fireing off fireworks here too ... the neighborhood houses are very close as are the front and back street the lots are so small ... and by the time the police get here then they have already shot off the fireworks and are gone ... Just one of those annoying things we have to live with ... Here in my neighborhood its the young teens ... as as school has another 4 weeks before it starts they are extremly bored ...

There are still kids shooting off fireworks here too. Of course, when the fireworks stands put the fireworks on sale for 50% off the day after the 4th. it didn't help any!
