"The family that prays together, stays together".
This is a very familiar quoted everywhere in the community. Have you heard about this? Do you believe this is true?
My parents raised us as God fearing individuals. We would go to mass every Sunday together. And yes noone in the family went astray.
I think it is true for us. What about you?

Yes. It is true. Our family (my parents and their children) used to pray together, until we are all separated due to marriage and separate homes. But eventoday, all of us come together once a month and have a get together, exchange pleansantries, offer help to someone who needs it.

Most Asian families have a close bondage among the family members and most of them keep close contact with each other. I stayed in many advanced countries and with all the resources each family has, there is total carelessness towards family members particularly those who need some moral help or some financial help;.

"when 3 or more gets together in my Name I will be there with you". so a family that prays together DOES stays together. :)

God will be in the mids if 3 or more are gathered. And I think it is the reason for family's survival. Being intact and together in the name of God. God bless you and your family my friend.

That's not necessarily true. I've seen families go to the same chuch and pray in or out of chuch, but they are only doing it for show. Often families pray together without having the spirit behind their prayers. One has to truly believe, to make this work.

I get your point my friend. You mean that there are hypocrites in the society. Yes there are alot of them. But I mean inside the house doing the prayer together. If Catholic, they pray the rosary together. I think prayers can do something for family to stay together, even if some doubt it. God bless!

Yes it is true but the family still stays together even if if its not praying together. As long as the family memebers are raised god fearing individuals no one can become astray. But yes it would be nicer if we all pray together =D

Some families do not pray together but maybe praying individually. If they are God-fearing individuals it can make them stay together no matter what. No one is astray. Thank you for responding my friend. God bless!

I also think that this is true.. I was raised much the same way you were, and my brother and I both strayed for a while, but eventually we both came back and tried to make amends with anything and everything that we had done.
Our family has always been very tight knit. I love the holidays around our house, and it is always so much fun.

The Family: Pray Together Stay Together. This quote speaks of of prayer being a factor of holding things together. As families today and as a church family we need the fabric of prayer our lives. Whether we are facing good times or hard times, we need the gluing factor of prayer.
The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians speaks of bowing his knees in prayer for the family.
Ephesians 3:14-19 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height; 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
In this one sentence prayer Paul identifies the family, name, home, and character. We are a family by God's design.
I think it is time we have a call to the family prayer altar.. for the 'the family that prays together stays together.'

Yes, I think this is a valid statement. My parents are still together and they have been married for 46 years. I also grew up going to mass every Sunday. Though now I attend church every Sunday and Wednesday night, I don't attend the Catholic church. Though my mother is a devout Catholic, she recently told me that she was happy for me that I found a church that I could be involved. So yes, I agree, a family that prays together stays together. The power of prayer is an awesome thing.

Your parents are great! Extend my congratulations for the great relationship they had for 46 years. I am glad you believe in prayers. And continue being a Christian in another religion. I think the faith is basically important as well as the training ground. God bless!

I think this is basically true. Praying together of course does not guarantee a relationship will last. That would be more of a superstition. But a religious grounding does help in a relationship. Praying shows people are aware that they can't do it alone. If a family is praying together, whether at home or at church, they are united in a very good way. At least part of their lives are headed in the same direction.

I do believe in it but it doesn't necessarily mean that you need to go to church together. But I think its the way you pray and believe together with God. Because if one of the family members is away how they could go together? And I reckon God doesn't set standard on how we pray. But its within the heart of the family that they have faith in God.

For me I consider it best when parents would lead their children together to church. Because a younger person is easier to teach than the older ones. I know that we can not go to church together now because we have different schedules for work, but as much as we can we do it. I know that God does not have a standard and His forgiveness is given thru mercy. God bless!

I am unsure as if that is to be true or not. My family use to be very religious, and I once thought it to be true for my family as well, until my parents separated that is. So to me that is just a saying now days that don't hold much power to it.

I think some families do not actually pray together because they are distant or busy. I still believe in it not because of my religion but because of my belief. I do have faith that prayers can do something. I am sorry about the separation of your parents. God bless!

That is a very true quote, because it very much happens in our life. One is your example of families going to mass together, if you look at a poll of the same thing i'm sure you'l have a majority on your side. In india among the hindu religion we have a family prayer session everyday by about sunset. But ofcourse the really busy families won't have time for those..
