Drew Carey on The Price is Right

I just saw an announcement on Yahoo that said Drew Carey just announced he is going to be the new host of The Price is Right. Do you think he would be a good host? How much longer do you think The Price is Right going to stay on the air without Bob Barker? Drew Carey might be alright for the job. But I honestly don't see the show lasting for more than 2 more seasons. Bob Barker was The Price is Right. It just won't be the same without him.

Drew Carey is very good at what he does, cynddvs, and I am sure that he will bring his own character to the show. His sit-com did very well when it was on. As far as how much longer The Price Is Right will last-who knows? Truthfully, I am surprised that it's been on so long.

I'm surprised it's been on as long as it has as well. Guess we will just see how much longer it will last.

Yeah I'm glad Rosie didn't get it. She would have been a horrible choice.

I don't think there's any doubt Drew Carey has the skills to do the job. I've never been a big fan of his, but I think he'll do OK. I think the show's survival will depend on how smart the producers are about managing the change. They have to change the set enough to compliment the "passing of the torch", yet not so much it alienates the long-time viewers. The show has to look and feel relatively the same, without making Drew look like he's walking around wearing Bob's clothes... if that makes any sense. Many people questioned whether "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" would survive without Regis, but Meredith Viera has done a masterful job of filling that seat. Too bad Ellen DeGeneres already has a successful talk show, she would have been a cool choice.

You make a very good point about the producers making the transition. I never thought about the set changing and such. In order for it to be sucessful with Drew they would have to make some more modern changes without going to overboard. I wonder if Drew will still have the long microphone.

I love him but I don't know if Drew Carey is the right fit for the job. I think he should stick to comedic shows which he does so well in. I doubt the price is right is going to be enough for his talents and I don't see it turning into a funny show.

My boyfriend actually told me about this earlier today. I agree with you. I personally can't see Drew Carey as the host? I really don't think he is right for the position...but I guess time will tell...?

I don't know if he will be right or not. It just will not be the same. I hope he doesn't try to make a comedian show out of it. It will be interesting to see how he does.

Why not Drew Carey as the host? People need to be given a chance. Look how many hosts Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy had. How about Family Feud? Richard Dawson was great on it. Never thought it would live long without him as host.

I have not been a "die-hard" fan of Price as Right since I work full time and haven't seen it in quite a number of years. The Tonight Show went on after Johnny Carson and we never thought that would happen. I think they picked well with Drew Carey. He will fit in okay. If they had picked Rosie...too much controversy would have caused the show to die, I think.

I was really surprised by this announcement. Although I have no clue who would be better for the job, I'm not convinced he will be a good fit. I guess time will tell and it will be interesting to watch. The show was very popular and it would be great if they could find a good host to carry on and "Come on Down!"

I personally find it miraculous that the show has lasted as long as it has. As to whether it will continue despite Bob Barker's leaving, I think that the life of the show after his exit would be the same no matter who was chosen as his successor. Either people are going to continue to enjoy trying to guess the price of items or it will finally bore them! I actually enjoy Drew Carey, but would still not watch The Price is Right..it is mindnumbing for me. My mother mother however, loves it!

I think Drew will be a great host for The Price Is Right. He has the skills and he loves people. He may not be Bob Barker, but at least Rosie didn't get the job!! We will have to wait and see.....

He seems like a good fit for the show but he will never be the same or as good as Bob Barker. Nobody will ever be able to replace Bob or be a better host than Bob Barker. I may catch the show once or twice to see what it is like seeing Drew up there. The show will not do as well without Bob being there. I think many people will miss Bob Barker.

I heard something about him being on the "Price is Right" but wasn't sure if it was a for sure thing. I just heard that he was thinking of taken the offer. I do know he also is a host on another game show called "The Power of Ten". I think he will do good. He is a funny guy and keeps people laughing.

I think Drew Carey is the right man for this job! His experience from this show "Whose line is it anyway?" will make him slide into his new role as the new host of "The Price Is Right" easier.

Nobody can replace Bob Barker. I'm curious to see how Drew Carey will do in his spot. It might be alright, but it sure won't be the same. Back in the 50's Bob Barker used to host a show called Truth or Consequences. The Price is Right was hosted by someone else, I believe, but I can't remember the name. When Bob started hosting the show, it really became popular. Once when I was on a visit to New York with my parents and younger brother, my mom took us downtown, and we visited the studio where the Price is Right was broadcast. We couldn't get on the show because my brother and I were too young. I think the age limit was 10 years old at that time. I don't think Bob Barker was the host of the show back then.
