What city in the US would you not want to live in? Is there one or more than one city that is really dangerous because of violence? I would probably say Philadelphia is a very dangerous city as everyday I hear numbers of people getting killed, even more than the amount of soldiers in Iraq that are dying. New York City is dangerous too, mainly because the terrorists seem to want to go after that city the most. All cities have some danger or risks but seems like some cities have more violence than others.

All the major cities of the USA now have areas that are extremely dangerous. Of the cities you mentioned as a dangerous, I'm sure you are correct. There is one in particular you have left out.
Detroit, Michigan has become a real cess pool of crime. You can use the myLot search engine to find info concerning how this happened. It is too complex and too long of a subject to go into here. But, sociologists have studied it pretty throughly. Inquiring minds willing to research it can find out the truth.

New York City is the most dangerous city in my estimation. Anything and everything has happened there.

I will have to agree with you that New York is dangerous for all those reasons that you've mentioned. I say every city has it's own risk somehow.

This is true. But, believe it or not, NY is not the number one of crime. I think it is LA,California.

I consider the USA in general a pretty dangerous place to live in. Until a few years ago, I was desperate to move there.. ever since the drama in NYC I've been put off and I think I'd rather go and live in France!
I don't know much about crime hot-spots in the USA, but The Bronx is pretty bad from what I've heard! x

I live in NYC now, its all good, if you know where ur going. Avoid things like going deep into the projects or areas of high gang related activities. I got jumped once in Jersey City, NJ. We just got off the train and got assaulted by 15 people. Thank God i'm alive.

I think all big cities have lots of crime. LA, Ph,NY,IL,AZ are way up there. It's scary, that is why I live way out away from the city.

I am not really sure myself. But my first instinct would say New York or Los Angeles. Both of those places seem to always have bad things happening in them. They make me leery of ever going to them. Though I know bad things happen everywhere.

I found a list of safest and most dangerous places to live. These were Cities with 75,000+ population. The rankings are based on a city's rate for six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft as of 2006. Safest place was Brick, NJ and most dangerous place was St. Louis, MO. Check it out

I think that most Americans do not like President Bush either but there is a lot of good things about living in the US. There is violence, danger and crowds in every country. Hopefully you will get to come to the US and visit. There is a lot to see and do. I have never been to Australia but I would love to visit there as well.
