My brother keeps telling my how good he is doing on ebay, and how much he always makes. I do not believe him about alot of things he tells me. So I was wodering if this time he might be telling me the truth. I am not even sure what to sell on ebay. Or what sells the best. I am willing to try the sight out. But I am thinking it might be more work then it is worth. Also he keeps talking about his feed back score. I am not even sure what the feed back score is all about. Anyway just would like to hear alittle about ebay from other ebay sellers. Also what is it with paypal and ebay. Do people pay you with paypal. Like we are getting payed here on mylot.

I was a powerseller last year. I used it to quit my job and start my own company. Now my company keeps me more than busy I do not have the time. It was a full time job. I made a lot of money. My ebay fees were usually $725 - $1200. It was a lot of work. I used to get 50 - 100 emails a day to give you an idea of how much time it took. Don't forget about packing time. That is a tedious chore. It demands a lot of time to do it right.

I have never sold anything on ebay but I have done a little bit of bidding. The feedback score is basically ranking you on your performance. If things within the auction went well, you get a positive. If things go very bad (like you forget to ship) you get a negative. The positive, negatives, and neutrals are averaged out to make a percentage. The closer that percentage is to 100 the better ebayer you are. As for paypal, yeah that is probably the most common way to pay for things on ebay. You can do a money order or whatever, but that seems rare as it would take much more time than a quickie done through paypal.

It is hard work. You have to put a lot of time into it and sometimes the payback is not great. You might want to visit the Ebay website so you can find more info on feedback scores etc.

I have sold a bit on ebay. I didn't find it very lucrative. I think in order to make much profit, you have to constantly be shopping for really good deals, so that you can sell things for a low price and still make profit. All in all, too much work for me. I find I can make more with freelance writing.

Like anything else, it depends on how much you put into it. I know that a lot of people do that as their business. Instead of having an office or store or warehouse, they might keep their stock in their garage, or a spare room, or even a storage stall. The only time I sell on ebay is like having a garage sale, just getting rid of old stuff. For example, I just sold about 5 old games that my daughter doesn't play anymore. We got more for them on ebay than we would have at Gamestop or Half Price Books.

I sold some things on ebay, but I used an ebay shop. The shop looked at my item, helped me by writing a really good description, took a picture of my items, helped me decide how much to ask and told me they would be receiving 1/3 of the price of each item. Since I had never described merchandise for sale before, don't have a camera, and had never sold on ebay before, it was nice to have them do everything. It took over a month to see any money from the sales. My items were used, but in excellent condition. Plus this ebay assistance shop had excellent ratings and I didn't have any rating. They shipped and put insurance on the items for me. They sent a check in the mail to me after all the items had been shipped and accepted. I'm not sure if they have such a service where you live and how honest they are. But the people I worked with in Vermont were great!

I sell loads on ebay, once you know what you are doing its really easy.THe secret is to describe things well. Why don't you go look at your brothers feedback listing if you are unsure what he is selling, you can see a lot of the past auctions that way, and it might help you understand how to go about it

I've sold various things on ebay for years. I sell quilts that I make myself, my grandmother's doilies and odd and end things to get rid of around the house. Mostly what goes good is electronic things. Like I went and got a new laptop and I sold my old one one ebay for $150. I got new cell phones and I sold my used old ones on ebay too. Clothing that I bought but didn't end up wearing I've sold. It's good to start off with things just lying around the house that your not using. Like dvds or vhs tapes cds. They you can even buy things on sale at places or on major discount and resell it on ebay for more than you paid for it. I have a friend who does this all the time. You have to pay attention to what sells. And your feedback score is very important. It's where people post feedback for what service they completed with you wheather you bought something from them or they bought something from you. It's hard to make money on ebay in the begining if you haven't much of a feedback score. It's important to get all possitive feedback and also the lack of feedback because you have just begun can hurt you. Paypal is one method that you can recieve payment for the items that you sell on ebay, however they do charge a fee for you to collect payment this way. I would suggest if you want to give it a try watch for when they do a free listing fee period so you will not pay out too much to list and play around with it for a while. It's not really hard just time consuming until you figure out what can sell.

I have sold a lot of rubber stamps and a few other things on ebay. It is a lot of work, especially with small ticket items. I will tell you it has gotten easier over the years as you can now list, monitor, and receive payment without having to generate e-mails, etc. It still takes time. You should go to ebay and check their fee schedules. You will pay them a certain amount for listing an item, a fee based on the selling price of the item, and a fee to paypal. That's why you can't make much with small ticket items. I would suggest researching ebay to see what's selling well. Paypal is so much easier to use than waiting weeks for checks to clear, losing things in the mail, etc. It's fast and easy for the seller to send an invoice and the buyer to pay it. A lot of people have taken to asking a smaller price for their item so that the listing fees won't be so high and then charging more for shipping which you don't have to pay fees on. I can see why they do it although I seldom want anything badly enough to pay high shipping charges. Lots of people are making livings on ebay. I was never able to, but if you find the right items I know it's possible.

As i have said to alot of people before ebay is a great place as long as you use it properly and you keep your whits about you at all times while trading on there. Ebay isn't just a place for selling and buying items, it's a place where con men and scam artists are in the thousands just waiting to do you out of your items and/or hard earned cash. You will hear from some people that they are making shed loads of cash off ebay and that is possible if you have the right product in the right market and the market is not overwhelmed with the product, if however you try to enter into an already established and huge market eg, dvd,s , cds, certain collectables etc etc. You will also hear that paypal is the best thing since sliced bread and it does have it's plus sides BUT it also has it's flaws which of course always favour the scammers because they are the people who know paypals loopsholes and use them to their advantage. If you do a search on here you should come across some good threads about paypal one in particular i did post some of the more common paypal scams and what to look out for so that might be worth a read to you. At the end of the day find a good product that people want / need and find a good supplier for it where you might get a decent discount for buying in bulk and then you should be alright but as i say be vigilant in your dealings. Good luck in your persuit of a fortune.

Actually ~ I prefer selling on amazon.com. Ebay charges a commission on every single item ~ even if you don't sell it. Amazon only takes a commission if you actually do sell the item. It depends on what you're selling & what kind of quantity you're talking about. If you're serious about it, you should check out your different options before you just go with one company.
