Were you standing in line for the new Harry Potter book?

On July 21st, I was among the hordes of people standing in line to buy the latest Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows by J.K. Rawlings....at midnight in Walmart...with my young son and my 7 year old granddaughter...
That may seem ridiclous to some of you but I want my 5 yr. old son to have the completed set when he is old enough to read them and I have enjoyed them as well...
His interest in reading these books for now comes from the movies that we have purchased on DVD...likewise, we will continue to purchase each movie as it becomes available..
So are you a Harry Potter fan? Were you standing in line like me? If you are not...why?

I didn't, but my daughter did. She spent the rest of the night and next morning reading it. Then as soon as she was finished, my grandson started reading it. My husband and I did drive by the Walmart and the book store to see all the people dressed in their Harry Potter costumes. I think it is great that so many people are interested in Harry Potter. It gives families something they can talk about and read and go see the movies together.

No not me. I couldn't be bothered really and just didn't want to stand in a line with my son. My husband is buying a copy on the way back from Africa so I hope to be able to read it when he gets home next Wednesday. I told him to make sure he has read it too LOL
I have always like the movies and am hanging out to watch this last one. It's way too scary for my son so I may have to watch it myself on a Sunday afternoon while daddy stays home and looks after him OR watch it on dvd.

I wasn't but my friend was, he had promised me the 7th and final book for my birthday back in May, so I've had to wait for my birthday present from him and it's been a long long wait, I can't wait to get my grubby little mitts on it, but I still have to wait till Sunday, that's why I've banned all my friends who've read it from talking about it, I won't read any discussion about it, that's why I was careful reading this discussion of yours! LOL! I am taking it away to my retreat with me so I can relax, it should be a good un!

Nope, never really got into Harry Potter although I did enjoy watching the first couple of movies when it was on TV. Maybe I should do that then, just wait until it comes on TV and then follow the story. But then again, I was never really into reading, so maybe thats why I can't get into the Harry Potter books.

I love to read and own all of the Harry Potter books but I still haven't read any of them.
I know!!!
I ordered the latest one from Amazon and got it the day it was released. So now I just need to make the time. My son has read and loved all of them.

I actually volunteered at the bookstore where my friend manages. It was a madhouse! But I had an absolute blast and, honestly, I wish I could have that much fun WEEKLY. There were well over three hundred people there. I'm not good with numbers, but I will say I was afraid the fire dept. would shut us down. It was an absolute blast.

I am not a Harry Porter fan, so no, I didn't stand in line when the new Harry Potter book was launched here in my country. I did watch some of the previous movies though, because I have the DVDs. Frankly, the only time I didn't mind standing in a long queue for hours was when I wanted to get tickets for a soccer game. I am a great fan of soccer, but rather poor when it comes to reading novels.

yes. I'm a harry potter fan. I already paid the deposit for the 7th book since 2 months ago. I did't have to wait in line but I came to my book store with my 2 daughters on 21st july and a lot of people bought harry potter. I just finish reading it now which the story for me is the best from the others harry potter books. I also enjoy watching the movie as well and I also collect the dvd like you did. my husband and my oldest daughter are harry potter fan too. we both had an argument who should read first but too bad for my oldest daughter since she's not fluent enough in english she should wait about 6 months for the translation book.

No, I didn't but we still got the book (my sister and mom just went and bought it).
I like the series, but I don't think I'm going to read the book since I didn't read the last one. They're just too long for me, I get bored waiting to get to the ending.
I do like the movies though - they're fun to watch (and I never care how accurate they are since...it's just a movie)

Nope. I was in the middle of a personal crisis. I happened to be out at Target on Sunday (the 22nd) and they had a whole endcap full of them so I picked one up then. After that I had to go to Best Buy and they had even more there but they were for like $15 more then at Target, lol.

Tina I like you stood in line to get the book, with my 10 year old daughter. She was 6 years old when she read the first book, then read the second and so on. I decided to make sure they were not to adult, I would read them also, and loved the story myself. Her love for the story has given her a love for other, stories, she loves to read. She loves the Harry Potter series and I have to admit, so did I. I hope that their are spin off stories. I would like to know what happens to the children of the next generation.
