I do have trouble sleeping at night. Apparently, it has been that way since I was a baby. Now though, I have Restless Leg Syndrome, and that makes it even more difficult. My doctor subscribed me medicine for the RLS and the insomnia (some of it was due to fibromyalgia), but I only take half of the prescribed RLS medicine, and a fourth of the sleeping medication. I find that the RLS meds work fine for me if I take just half of the dose. I should take more of the prescribed sleeping medicine, but I hate taking medicine. I'm just glad I can get a good 3 hours as it is.

Mirapex won't. There are two medications that are virtually side effect free, mirapex and neurontin. I don't take neurontin anymore though. Trust me, I have a liver problem. I didn't get it by drinking or by prescription medicine. And they wouldn't give me anything that would hurt it more. I know this because that is why they refuse to give me pain medicine.

Sometimes it takes me forever to sleep, but if i had a lot of physical activity that day the sleep comes easier. What I do is just read a book or magazine then try again. A lot of times I can't sleep because a lot is on my mind, so I try to clear my mind and try to concentrate on nothing.

I normally read before going to sleep which always relaxes me
I do wake up during the night but I go straight back to sleep
Maybe you want to see your Doctor about this and see if he can help as you can't be getting enough sleep there and you seem to have problems getting the rest you need

Sometimes I wake up and have a hard time getting to sleep at night too- I usually just get up and walk around for a bit downstairs and then go back to bed- I just lay there until I fall back asleep= I hate nights like this- Makes me all groggy the next day!

Yes I do. It's a problem which I had since I was a kid. Now that I am an adult there are nights when I couldn't sleep at all.

It usually takes me about 2 hours to fall asleep. If I don't fall asleep within 3 hours I will usually get back up. I try very hard to sleep for 8 hours at night, then stay up all day, but once asleep I have a very hard time staying that way. I end up on a vicious cycle of sleeping for a couple hours then being awake for a couple hours, and so on.
I have tried OTC sleep meds and also prescription ones, but nothing really seems to help.

I usually get no problems while sleeping at night.
But it can happen once or twice a month and its basically because of going to loo at midnights and second thing I do feel hungry in the middle of night..!!
Its really hell frustrating that you get disturbed while sleeping and when you get back to sleep its almost the wake up time..!! huh!!
So whenever I get up in midnight I tend to eat some food or drink lots of milk so that I can get back to sleep fast.As in full stomach you get sleep fast..!!

I have trouble sleeping if I have had too much caffeine that day or if I slept a lot later than I usually do. But, if I keep busy all day, that usually helps.

Usually, there are two more common types of sleep disorder, those that cannot get to sleep and those that have a problem with length. I'm not a doctor, but in the course of my treatment for bipolar disorder and i do have insomnia, i used to take sleeping pills but that never really helped me. it was a coincidence, i was placed on an antipsychotic Seroquel 50mg, and it actually helped my sleep. initially, it was supposed to be one of the side effects but recent studies have shown that low dose of seroquel does help for insomnia. My bf and 2 other friends of mine have the same problem as you do, I asked my doctor if it was okay for me to let them try it, he made sure that they didnt have any medical condition that was contraindicated for that medicine, they wanted to give it a try, and it worked wonders for them. But they only take it as needed or the times when you are so tired you cant sleep?
on the non medication side, try and make sure youre comfortable that there isnt any sounds/lights or anything that would normally be the reason you wake up.
You could consult a sleep doctor, because if your case is something that happens almost everyday at some point you will reach exhaustion, because you are not reaching the REM state of sleep which is when our bodies get the most rest.

Over the past few years I have had serious problems with sleeping. The doctors have prescribed be everything from natural products, to trazedone, to just recently ambien. The best yet was ambien, but after a few weeks that stopped working too. I really don't know what the problem is. After I had my second child almost 4 years ago, I just never got back on track. It sucks because I'm always tired and a bit slow throughout the day and I hate it.

Hi. Actually I was a poor sleeper before last sunday... I would hardly get enough sleep... Up until last week sunday, I was a big fan of coffee, and traded it in for "Oo long tea", Ive noticed that I can easily go off too sleep, which was much needed...

I always had a hard time falling asleep. I usually read to help me calm down, but more importantly it takes my mind off all the important things I worry about and I focus on something unserious. I think there reason I have a hard time sleeping otherwise is that I think too much about what I didn't finish today and what I must do tomorrow. Truth is I know i shouldn't worry about it at 1 in the morning cause I can't do anythng about it then but it is hard sometimes. And once I wake up that is it, I can't go back to sleep no matter how hard I try.

I once have it too. It would take hours to get to sleep and wouldnt get back to sleep when woke up. I even ever awake for whole night. You have insomnia and I think its becoz of stressed. You have the sign of this. I was like that too, too much thinking, and even I didnt I still couldnt get to sleep. After I have baby, its gone just like that. May be I have no thought, except taking care of my baby. I dont have so many time for another thing. Just make yourself busy maybe this will help you. You can read a book too if you cant sleep, sometimes it will help.

I don't have trouble falling asleep, but I have a lot of vivid dreams that tend to bring me awake. I also wake up during the morning hours, several times usually between 2am and when I get up at 9am. I'm a mother and 4 months pregnant right now, so I have seemingly good excuses for my easy waking, but I've been this way all my life. I'm wondering if a change of diet and exercise might help, but I don't know where to begin. My job is a pretty physical one, so I would need something that would compliment that, like yoga or tai chi. I don't really know much about either. As far as diet goes I'm at a total loss. I grew up eating anything that came out of a can or a box with a few fresh ingredients tossed in from time to time. Would a healthier diet help my sleep problem?
