Fresh fruits or Canned fruits?

In the fridge, there is a big variety of fruits - oranges, apples, pear, longans, kiwi, plums, grapes and persimmon. I also noticed in the fridge, there is a jug of pineapple cubes, rambutans and longans with syrup. I found out that my nephew wanted longans in syrup. Hence, they opened two canned fruits (pineapples and rambutans) and put in the fresh longans, freshly peeled. LOL.
I cannot help shaking my head yet I finished up the remaining canned fruits.
Friends, given a choice, do you too prefer to take canned fruits? Or you prefer fresh fruits? When taking the canned fruits, do you drink the syrup water that comes with it too?
Thanks for sharing :)

I mostly like fresh fruits but do eat the occasional canned fruits like fruit salad or peaches with ice cream :) I love the juice from the canned fruits :)

For me it depends a lot on the fruit. SOme fruits I just have to have them fresh, canned won't do. Others I really enjoy it either way, and some I often like them more if canned.
IF I do have them canned you bet I will drink the syrup water, specially if they are home made.
That said my preference overall goes to fresh I think. There is only one fruit that usually I enjoy more canned than fresh and that is peaches. Actually that is not even completely correct, I love fresh peaches but unfortunately it's rare to find good peaches in the supermarket, they seem to come still frozen inside and not soft sweet and juicy as I like them. So I tend to prefer it canned, but in all honesty if I could get the good ones fresh I would ditch the canned right away LOL

I prefer fresh fruits than those who are canned. Maybe because I still believe taht there are preservatives added on canned fruits to make them stay long. The only diference is I guess in canned fruits, you'll get it instantly... and he taste... its somehow different. I dont know if I am just used of fresh one...

I would definitely prefer fresh fruits.
I know that frozen fruits lose all of their vitamins, and they contain only sugar.
So i would prefer chocolate then a frozen fruit. Lol.
I live in a country that has many fresh fruits all year long, so i never had to buy canned or frozen fruit, i just go the vegetable and fruit store where they get fresh fruit each day and buy what i want.
Each day i buy fruits only for that day.

Given the choice I would much prefer fresh fruits as they are alot tastier and just really nice, but it is not always practical to buy fresh fruits as they have their seasons and you cant always get what you want at a fair price so I also have canned fruits on hand. I also use some fruits in cooking and find it alot easier to have the canned variety on hand for this for example if I am cooking a pizza I much prefer to have the sweetened pineapple for a tin on my pizza rather than the fresh stuff! I also have a tin of blue berries in my pantry at the moment to make blue berry pancakes! If I were to buy blue berries (even though I cant at the moment as they arent in season) they would cost me about $5 but to buy a can which is ok for the recipe it is only about $3 and I get about 3 times the amount of what I would in the fresh punnet. But there are things that I wont buy in a tin and only the fresh stuff will do, strawberries being one of them. Yes I do drink the syrup that comes with the juice as I love it but my partner thinks it is horrible and wont drink it so I get it all to myself

Definitely fresh fruits.
Unless used in desserts, canned fruits are not that tolerable. Even used in desserts, most canned fruits taste disgusting.
I don't know why they haven't invented a better process to keep the flavor of the fruits.

that's quite innovative of your family. and very indulgent of your nephew.
i much prefer fresh longans than longans in syrup, which makes it too sweet. i have a theory that they probably put all the un-sweet or sour longans that they can't sell into cans with sugar syrup so by osmosis the longans become sweet.
i don't like canned fruits that much but i have a friend who loves loves loves canned peaches. and refuses to eat the fresh ones with fuzzy skin. for me i prefer the fresh juicy ones than some processed sugary stuff.

Hi whyaskq! I prefer fresh fruits because i do love making smoothies or just eat them as they are. I do love eating them most of the time as a part of my diet too. However, if I am taking on canned fruits, i really don't drink the syrup because some has too much sugar mixed with it. Take care and have a nice day!

I like both of them just fine. To me, they are the same things somehow. Sometimes though, I do not mind having more fresh fruits than canned ones.

I would always prefer fresh fruits than canned fruits. Fresh fruits are always better and more nutricious and carry more vitamins and mineral. On the other hand, in canned fruits, preservatives are used, excess sugar is used to preserve them, therefore, they are not as healthy as fresh fruits.

I love fresh fruits than canned fruits, I like canned fruits when its made for slad. I eat all sorts of fruits and I can enjoy them when they are in season. These days here in our place we have lots of mangoes and rambutans and lanzones and i am enjoying it coz when its in season the price is much much cheaper than the normal price when the fruit is not in season.
