It makes me want to cry... and turn my computer off...

I was reading mails when I open this forwarded mail. I read it and it struck me as I read the lines... Thes past few day I've been so busy with so many things... I keep a planner to track the things that I need to accomplish... THis poem is written by a father... who has a brain cancer... I want to share this with you. TO MY CHILD Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying. Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is. Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play. Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together. Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles. Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by. Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concern ed. Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them. Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys. Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you. Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry. Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars. Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows. Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms. The mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly and screaming inside that little body And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day.............

O! What a nice poem, the concluding lines of the poem made in me some kinda feeling, that is quite inexpressive, but it weighed my heart a lot more. Surely the feelings of the fathers and mothers who visit the graves and tombs and the kins are really sad.. O! god it must not repeat or happen to anyone.

That is Painfully Beautiful. This should be sent to all parents that put their careers and desires first. In my line of work, I meet many ignored children and it breaks my heart.

Im not that worse... I still see to it that I have time for my kids. And I am the one who puts them to sleep. But you are right there are lots of ignored children. In time there parents will realize their worth. I just hope it wont too late to play. Happy posting.

That's so emotional poem .. It is filled up of great emotions and is really good .. It makes me feel emotional .. and cry though .. I will not deny that it makes you feel sad too :( .. but still it's worth reading .. if you feel the emotions of that father. But if you read it like if you are reading a letter .. it will never make any sense to you. So basically you need to have some emotions within you to understanding the feeling of the writer of this poem. Rated ++++ to you for this and thanks for sharing such an emotional poem :)

I have read that poem before, and it has brought me to tears every single time. I think we should all live our lives in the way that father described. Maybe then, we would learn to appreciate all of the little things that our children do that make life so enjoyable. Thank you so much for sharing that hon.

Yeah it's a wake up call isn't it? i don't have children but it reminds you taht in todays fast paced life we often forget about what life really means and what family means. We spend so much time at work, watching tv, doing chores, shopping, renovating the house, buying new cars etc but we should be spending all our time with our children. It is so important for children to feel loved and important and I hope heaps of people read this poem and think about how much time they aren't spending with their children.

What a beautiful poem. It brings tears to my eyes. I have a daughter in a persistent vegetative state who has not been able to be a mother to her 3 kids. I know she would have loved this poem.

I am naturally a crybaby. And if only I'm not in the office, I would have let my tears flow. That poem is very touching & emotional. But it's worth reading. It reminds us to be in tune with the basic ingredient of our lives - which is our family. That our life here on earth is not an everlasting one. That all our luxuries in life (appliances, money) don't have to be our priority in life. And other lessons could be deduced in this lovely poem. It helps us to keep our minds and hearts in God's care. Thanks for sharing.
