Have you ever been off work for a length of time and didn't want to go back?

I have had the last ten days off work due to my father's passing and a planned four days off for my birthday. Today I will be returning to work. I am glad that I am getting paid for these days that I took off. I get 3 days funeral leave and then I have personal, sick and vacation time that I can use for the four other work days that I didn't work. But now that the time has come for me to have to go to work today, I am finding it hard to motivate myself to want to go to work. Don't get me wrong, I like my job and my co-workers very much. I have a few things I need to do around here and then I will be headed off to work!
Have you ever experienced times such as this? Thanks for sharing!

I'm sorry for your loss. It is logical after a passing to feel a little unconnected. It will take time for you to be back to normal. On the other hand, I like my job also, but not the stress levels or the constant push because of the "we don't want to turn away customers". If I were off for 10 days, I'm not sure I would want to go back. I've been thinking for a couple of years now that it is time for a change, just don't know how to do it yet.

So you say you are ready for a change. Do you know what you would rather be doing?

I would like to be painting. I did a lot of decorative painting as well as painting on canvas for about 2 years and loved it. I wish I could start doing that full time and see where it takes me. Perhaps have a shop and sell supplies, or teach some beginning decorative painting classes and just have fun. Too bad I need income to pay the bills.

Yes. I have taken a couple of weeks off before, and it was hard to give up the free time. I like what I do for a living, but sometimes it is nice to be able to call your day your own, and look forward to the plans you have made without obligations.

It seems even when I have time off from work, there is obligations still. But I do enjoy the time off especially when there are no obligations. Which isn't very often.

Oh how I have been there from time to time in jobs I have had in my past. Some of my issues though we due to being in too much Pain to even be able to function even when I went back. But for me personally now, if I was feeling too the point I was dreading going back to a Job after being away, that to me, would be time for me to start considering my Job and if it was time to move on.
But wishing you the Best in everything.

I could be off for one or two days and not mind going back. But I've been off for 6 months and even though I'm looking for a job, I dread going back to work. I've enjoyed being at home and keeping my house in order. Now it scares me to think of how disorganized my home will get once I get a job.
