What's the worst tasting pizza topping you've ever eaten?

For me, the worst tasting pizza topping would have to be anchovies or black olives. I tried both of these toppings awhile back on a lark and the taste was not pleasant at all. The anchovies turned out to be too salty. And, the olives made the entire pizza taste sour.
Long ago, I loved pepperoni topping, exclusively. But, lately I've found that the pepperoni topping that our local pizza place uses, tastes rancid. And, maybe it is. So, I don't order pepperoni pizza anymore or pepperoni toppings or the entire pizza ends up tasting rancid. Not very satisfying.
So, what's the worst tasting pizza topping that you have ever experienced? Did the bad topping make everything on the pizza taste bad? Did you blame the pizza place and stop buying from them?

The worst tasting pizza topping I ever ate- was mushrooms- I love mushrooms- but one time they tasted rotten! We didn’t end up eating the pizza at all- Called the pizza place and they delivered a new one out to us- No mushrooms this time- Its my favorite place to order pizza- and I still order there.

Life is too short for bad s*x or bad pizza. You are braver than I. I wouldn't try new toppings on my pizza. It took me a long time to try pepperoni. Then I tried green pepper.I like them both. I am sorry that you pizza joint 's pepperoni doesn't taste good.I have been told anchovies are the least favorite pizza topping.I guess I stick with what I like. Then again all the other toppings I wouldn't like.

I totally agree with you. I hate anchovies and black olives. There so nasty and why would anyone want to eat that on a perfectly good pizza. Who would want something crazy like pinapple too.

This took place recently when my cousin,my elder sister and me had gone to eat out at a local joint. It was there that I ordered an Onion,Capsicum and Tomato pizza. However, after I got my order at our table and I had started eating, I realized that they pizza tasted sour, something which you wont associate with the one that I ordered. Therefore, I called the waiter, had the pizza examined and it was then I found out that I had been eating a mushroom, onion and tomato pizza. yuck! the mushroom topping had spoilt all the taste and I had to abandon eating the pizza there in.
Indeed I blamed the pizza place for supplying me with the wrong pizza and I have made a vow that I wont be eating in future over there!

I don't like black olives on my pizza either...they end up tasting like the can they came in. I like green olives on pizza though, maybe because they come in a jar. I had a pretty bad frutti di mare pizza once that was covered in fish and octopus and squid tentacles...yikes.

I tried a pizza with capers and salmon on it.Not for me at all! When i think of salmon,i dont think of it being on pizza. It was a new kind of pizza that the company came out with that i use to work for at a pizza franchise.:)I didnt stop buying from because i got it free,i made it myself.I wanted to know what it tasted like and why it didnt sell well.I found out why and they stopped making it after a couple of weeks of no sale.lol:)I wonder why?!

Probably the one with burnt sausage. Yea I got one like this, wasn't too thrilled about it. It tasted like utter garbage. Most everything else is fine on a pizza. I use to hate olives on my pizza years back but that was when I was 4. I gave it another try when I started cooking a few years later and they were great to me. :)

I would have to say the worst pizza I have eaten was from an italian woodfired restaurant. We asked for garlic and oregano as extras on our Australian pizza (egg and bacon topping) and they put so much garlic on it that when it was put on the table our eyes started watering and it was actually hot and spicy in our mouths! We never went back there and refused to pay for the pizza - the staff even thought it was funny!
So not impressed with that place!
