I have a dog that becomes crazy when she hears and saw strange things. I have also a kitchen knife but it's too dangerous for me to handle it, maybe if it is in need I will. I have also a baseball bat behind my doors.. How about you guys what kind of home defense armour do you have? Do you have guns, rifles or anything that will protect you?

Other than the fact that I'm mentally unstable with violent tendancies you mean? LOL Well we have two dogs, I have hunting knives, keep a crowbar in the living room, my psychotic mental state is always a good weapon though..usually the best one really.. :-D If you think about it, there are MANY household items that can be used as very effective weapons shoudl the need come about....ranging from a frying pan or coffee pot to a simple knitting needle and everything in between...Its all about being creative LOL

I have 3 very noisy dogs. I figure that's all I need, because they alert us if there is anyone too close to the house. I figure that burglars will be deterred by the noise. At least I hope that's how it will work.

we have a dog, but my husband is a Marine and we live on a militray base and you have to go through security to even get on base so I feel pretty safe here you don;t really hear of any crime happening on the base

I have my Beagle Buster whom barks at every strange noise is not the normal sounds he hears daily. he also sits by our bedroom dfoor at night so if an intruder soes enter the house he would let us know easily. I have security lights that turn on when something moves inb front of it. It is set for about a 75 foot range. Someone walks into my driveway and the lights turn on. Other than deadblot locks that's it as far as security. I feel safe in my home with this. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We no need any home defense. At our entry gate from main road we have collapsible iron gate and two guards always guarding day and night 24 hours for the homes of our locality. We pay them from each flat and home so no problem if we keep open our door at day or night. In fact knife is not good defense as when any problem come near you, knife is small weapon. Better you keep "hot water" in ketle or in hot water bag and throw it if any bugler see, woo bugler will burn and run away and would never come again even police can indentify them.

We do have a baseball bat also, it is placed behind the main door. But my daughter started playing with it and am just not comfortable she might hit hesrself, so I just placed it somewhere inside the storage room. Now, that you have mentioned about it, I forgot exactly where it is now in the storage room. LOL Hmmm. Gotta go check later, so just I know! We do also have many different kitchen knives. From a big buthcer's knife down to a tiny peeler. Come to think of it, as one of the responders said you can find a lot of things in the house that could serve as a home defense, not necessarily a weapon.

I have a cricket bat under my bed, there are also knives close by, but like you, I think I will be putting myself at more risk from using it. I also have my trusty two dogs out in the back yard. Does a mobile phone also count? It could come in handle for emergency calls.

I'm completely armed. I have a katana, shortsword, kendo stick, aluminum bat, crossbow, and several other things. I also have plenty of butcher knives and I'm not opposed to poison/ammonia tipping them.
