Does your rating increase depending on the number of friends you have on myLot? The more friends you have, more the chances of your discussion being seen. Is that true?Do you really post to all the discussions that your friends have started or only the ones that interest you? If so, then what is the point in having friends(assuming you don't know anything personal about your friends on myLot)?

yes friends are very important in your earnings thats what i think its because the more friends you have the more chance your topic will be responded especiall these friends. ratings are also important because this will give you an idea of the quality of your respond and how your respond rank. that's what i think.

Nope, my ratings hsa been stable for the past 3 months now. i have a couple of credible friends, but I don't rely much on how they rate me. I am still thankful that my rate doesn't decrease, but it doesn't affect me much on my performance here though.
I believe that ratings depends mostly on how we perform and participate here, so it would be better if we know and follow the guidelines.

Hi there, SViswan! I think the more friends you have on myLot, the more variety of discussions. When you have friends who are active in their postings, you learn the types of posts they usually make. That saves me a lot of work going through all of the posts. You don't have to respond to all of your friend's posts. I only respond to the ones that interest me. I have found that some friends post consistently good ones, while some do not.

I don't respond to all my friends' posts either and I found out that some of them haven't been active for months! But having friends makes my job of hunting for interesting topics easier.I was just wondering if that is the case for everyone and thus it would increase your ratings ( because you are able to post more than you generally would when you have to FIND interesting topics)

No i dont think so. I dont post to all the discussions my friends write. I just usually go through new, recent, hot, and discussions with no replies. If you do that you can reply to a lot of discussions and probably be rated a lot. Not necessarily all your friends rate discussions. I guess in a way it could help you or it couldnt. It just all really depends on your friends. Im not sure what the point is of really having friends. A lot of people get really friendly here on mylot. That could be why you might have friends.

I think your rating increases when you have lots of post and discussions and get lots of best responses.

This is partially the case. But remember friends do their own thing on mylot as well. Plus there are so many discussions on mylot its not surprising if yours get overlooked by friends and other members. The one thing you should know though SV, is if you actually have a real opinion on things there are some trolls here that do not like that and will negative you just for having one and expressing it freely.

Oh..that's probably why I lost some points earlier. Someone must have given me a negative marking. There was just one person that I had a heads-on with. lol..and in the end I realized that both of us had deviated from the main point of discussion.
How do we know if someone has given a negative marking? Just curious to know if I've offended anyone.

You don't. Its an anonymous system and one of its major flaws.

i don't think so... having lots of friends don't have anything to do woth the ratings at all... the ratings come from your posting and replying to other people's discussions and how many best responses you get...

It might do as I know I always check out my friends discussions and try to respond to them all. I think as well if you have friends then you can send private messages to them as well.
