The job - Week 2 Day 4 - I'm DONE - The End

Well, I didn't finish out the week.
It was basically mutual.
She didn't seem to think I was giving her what she wanted (whatever that was). I think what she wanted was a mind reading clone.
She was just unrealistic. She'd give me a task with minor instructions and expect me to know how to follow through.
I didn't want to ask questions to clarify, because she would act as if the question was a stupid question, so I wouldn't bother. I just figured things out the best I could without asking. She didn't like the results? Too bad.
I didn't even make it to the end of the day. I left an hour early. I got my check turned in my keys and said goodbye!
Hopefully I will find something even better.
Normally I'm a patient person. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt all the way through until today.
I changed my mind today. She just wasn't somebody worth working for. I find it hard to imagine that she has ever kept an employee for long.
For those who have responded to my previous discussions about this, Thank you for your support and encouragement!

I am surprised that you have managed to stay patient so long honey - from what you say I think I would have found it very difficult to cope with this erratic and unreasonable lady! I am very sure that you will find something much better for you and hopefully closer to home very soon sweety! xxx

Sometimes we have to go through several jobs before finding the right fit and since you knew this was not for you, I think you made a wise choice. Some of us get stuck doing things we do not love and others take the chance. It just depends on the situation and what your circumstances are. I am sure you will find something much better for you!

I'm glad you stood up for yourself, and don't worry the right job will come along. I have no idea why this woman thought she coud just hire somebody with the expectation she wouldn't have to have any training involved. Her turnover speaks volumes about her ability as a leader.

Trying to do a new job without the guidance that you should have is difficult and I would have told this person that. I hope that you find a great job and just chalk this up to some quick learning experience.

I'm glad you didn't finish out the whole week because she sounds like a mean person to work for. She needs someone to work for her that is a mind reader, just like you said. I hope you find something else that you enjoy and maybe the boss will be nicer this go around.

If you and her cannot see eye to eye and if she is the type who thinks any questions you ask is a stupid question, she has a closed mind and it is better that you quit.
It is bad that she gave you the impression that she was trying to change and she will only be satisfied with the employees who do not ask questions and obey without question. I hope you find a better job.

Dont feel bad. I have had a few jobs like that with people who do not know how to train the new ones. I have been on both ends of the spectrum. I hated it when a boss did not know how to train. Some times another employee was a better help. When I had to train people I had to make sure that I made the necessary time to handle it. Training takes time away from other daily duties. Plus not everyone learns at the same time. If a boss gets annoyed because a trainee has to ask "too many" questions, maybe the boss needs to explain better.

That's poor training on her part. You are not expected to know how to do the job on the first day without any mistakes! that is unfair to expect that from you. I would say its her loss in the end as she has to go back and interview and find someone else which is going to take another few weeks I'm sure.

Hello miamalady!(",)
Sorry to hear about your not-so-nice relationship with your boss. My sister also resigned when she can't take no more of her boss's attitude. It seems that my sister can really relate to your experience. Well, there are so many better jobs out there so you better check it out.
Always remember that something better will come along your way.
God bless!(",)

Sounds as if she was just a bad employer! You can only deal so much with the whole thing. I know you will find something better! sometimes employers expect people to walk in the door and be able to do the job with little training, or they give them some sketchy details and move on. I think the whole problem with them is they think only they can complete a task the way they want it done. You are lucky you got out now, the stress would become overpowering. No one should have to deal with this kinfd of employer, but the world is filled with them!

You will find something else Miami. Im quite sure she was needing someone for the very reason you stated, there is no telling how many people she has been through with her unrealistic expectations of people without giving clear instructions. She has the problem, not you. Im sure you did a great job!
Good luck!

hi miamilady... i feel sorry that you have to lost your job... i think the main reason for this is miscommunication... if only she can communicate well with you as a manager, then i think this thing doesn't have to happen... i always make sure that i communicate what i want to my manager and looking for mutual understanding... anyway, i hope you can get a new job soon... good luck and take care...

well at least you got paid. I remember you mentioned you haven't worked for some time so at least this is another work experience even though it's very short. I used to be very emotional about work, but now I don't let it bother me. I heard there are many opportunities to work from home in the US, have you tried them?

You're not a mind reader so she should have been more specific with her instructions.
You're probably right about her not keeping an employee very long.
I'm sure you're off to bigger and better things
