I sold stuff on Ebay for quite awhile before deciding to open an Ebay store and no, it was not worth the money. You pay a set amount per month (plus still listing fees and ending fees although smaller) no matter how much of your stuff sells and the monthly fee ended up putting me in the hole compared with before when I just listing things the conventional way. Also, you still have to put in auction listings to draw people in to your store because "store inventory" does not show up when someone searches for items - only if there is not a single one of the same item listed in Ebay auctions. So I closed my "store" and went back to the old way.

I agree with you. I decided to give the store a go because they were offering a one month free trial. I hated it. The worst thing was having to set up store listings and then paying more for regular listings to bring people in. I found that I spent more money and made a lot less. I'm sure it works for some people, but it didn't work for me. Thank God the subscription was free.

I started a store, but am thinking of closing it. It seems there are so many rules to ebay that I don't know and don't have the time to read up on all of it. I'm afraid of getting in trouble on there out of ignorance. Plus, yes, the fees are amazing. Even if I sell an ebook for $0.99, between ebays and paypal's fees, I'd have to sell Thousands of ebooks to make a profit.
I just don't have the time to put into it.

I'll be reading this discussion to see what they say. I've listed off and on over the past 8 years and it is always hit and miss. I'd love to have an ebay store if I could make my salary doing it and quit my job.

I used to sell on Ebay but actually I felt it has become too flooded with sellers. I finally quit selling and now only buy. Mostly DVD's, books and cross stitch supplies. I never got into getting a store b/c for me it would have been a waste.
