Worry is getting the best of me.

After speaking with a few of my coworkers and friends about the fact that I haven't had a menstrual cycle for the past two months, they raised the question of pregnancy. Now, I know that I have been battling menopausal symptoms for a while now, but pregnancy never entered my mind. My husband had a vasectomy about 24 years ago. I thought I was safe.
Today when shopping I ran into a friend who became pregnant years after her husband had a vasectomy. She said that she never felt pregnant, she even had her period.
Well, the worry is now getting the better of me. I am heading to the store for an early detection kit. I feel freaking crazy for thinking of doing it, but I need to know it if is just menopause or something else.

I think it's more likely the start of the menopause, Elusive. This doesn't just stop, periods become erratic... you won't have one for months and then you'll have a heavy one, and so on. I doubt you're pregnant. It's not a common occurrence after a partner has had a vasectomy and if you were going to get pregnant, you've had plenty of time to do so. No, I think your friend was just unlucky, and you're starting the menopause. Twenty four years is an awful long gap, my friend.
Brightest Blessings and good luck!

I would go to the doctor. It is probably menopause. Usually starts when you are in your fifties and for a time, one does wonder if God is giving you a late baby as a present, but since your husband had a vasectomy 24 years ago, I doubt that is the case.
Also you might have a false pregnancy and think the baby is kicking when the expected time comes. That happened to me. It was my stomach rolling and was I ever disappointed.

It is possible to be completely without periods, then to become pregnant, it happened to my mom, but I suspect, like everyone else, that it is menopause. I do agree with the others that an in home test will ease your mind, and it is cheaper and less time consurming than seeing the doctor. Good luck.

Best bet is to make an appointment with your doctor to determine what the issue is, instead of worrying so much. I know how that can cause a great deal of worry wondering what is causing this. It could be possible that pregnancy is an option. Depending upon the type of vasectomy your husband had, it is quite possible. Also, it is quite possible that menopause is setting in. Best to go to the doctor.

Well I guess it would hurt to get one of those pregnancy test things, but you just might be going through the menopause mode here...I've completely stopped my period a few years ago, and I'm 51. My slowing down started the same way..I'd skip a few months then have regular periods again, then stop, then start..it was like a yo-yo for me---then I went through a long period of not getting my period..like nine months, then bingo, got it again..but then that was the last time for me--So either welcome to the menopause stage of life or..congratulations?????

The stress that you are going through could also be the cause of missed menstrual cycles. Your best bet is to make an appointment with your gynocologist.

It is highly unlikely you are pregnant, but getting and taking the test will make you feel better. Good luck.

How did this turn out for you?? I bet you were just menapausal. Is that the case. I have not had a period since 1986. I had a hysterectomy that took care of the pregnacy questions for us.

It's highly unlikely that you're pregnant but take the test to calm your fears. I think they're very cheap now. Even some of the dollar stores carry them now.
Good luck.

Could be meno. Then again despite expertise I'm not the ultimate source for something like this. Elusive at least don't worry too much, its not good for the mind and body. Hopefully this plays out your way.

Well I guess best to get a test to be sure - but it sounds like menopause to me. I didn't have period between May and August - then I had one that lasted 4 weeks - now I've got another one after only 3 weeks without - LOL! It's just part of Nature's way of playing tricks on us poor women. I'll just be glad when the whole damn thing finally finihes - at least we know where we are then! Good luck!

Oh Sarina, you poor darling. The perils of menopause. It really puts us off our stride but it will be behind you soon then you can simply age gracefully.
Even though I had an array of symptoms, it was really no big deal. I've been past it for about 4 years now.
BTW, I'll be 55 tomorrow....half way to 60. :)

Well first of all try not to worry to much. I know worrying makes your mentrual cycle go all crazy. Go ahead and get a pregnancy test if it would make you feel better. I'm only 30 and I have had problems like this to. I've gone almost 5 months without a period and I'm not pregnet and my test show nothing is wrong. It could be menopause, for you and for me. But dont worry, nature has its way of working out.
