Today I read a shocking news that we the humans are utilizing 50% more resources than what nature can regenerate, in an alarming report by UNO it is clear that the amount of resources which we require are more than what the earth can produce , at this rate we are loosing 50 miles of forest area every year, which cannot be reproduced , we have lost around 50% of fresh water fish in last 20 years, the amount of land and fresh water we now require to stay are far beyond what is being regenerated , this is certainly bringing us to the abrupt end.According to the president of the INSTITUTE OF CIVIL ENGINEERS(ICE) earth can only support 1 billion people , but it was the effort of engineers and nature that it is supporting 6 billion people now , but the people take it as theirs, they should not waste things, because everything is in a limited quantity , and we should not test the immune power of earth , or else we are calling a bog trouble. we here as mylotters can do our work by bringing out this fact to people we know and request them not to waste anything , not to pollute the atmosphere and take to helping the nature , so that we atleast give our next generations a healthy place to live in , so that they do not look up at their ancestors as the culprit.
so wake up guys/gals , just respond to it , bring out the awareness in your near and dear ones , and help us, let mylot do this bit to help bring alive the mother earth.

First I do not worship mother earth, I worship God and HE gave people the ability to utilize the resources of this earth, but HE did not want people to be wasteful. I do not put faith in the Institute of Civil Engineers, since if earth had been as it was when it was first created, it could have supported more than six billion people.
You should have given us the link, so we could find out if this is legit and not another "Oh the world is getting warm, we are in danger!" type of propaganda. And people should not go ahead and buy things that they will not keep. That would save a lot, also when you are giving something to someone as a gift (Christmas coming) make sure that that person wants it.

Ya thats very true that we are wasting a lot of things , but the propositions put forward are also very true, can't you see the temperature rising, the climate changing, sea level rising, what does this indicate, now the world in danger of extinction in 200 years , so where does the future of mankind rests, the sea level of bombay is rising by 4 mm per year, this may seem to be very less , but it is slowly eating up the coasts.
regarding the link , I have read it in the local newspaper , it is probably the extract from this years noble prize winners thesis.
anyways thanks for your views.

Yes i have also read this article. It seems that earth is in real danger. Its the huge population that is affecting mother earth in this way.
I think there should be awareness among all to prevent this.
Otherwise our future is in real danger.

Saving the environment should be everyone's passion, advocacy. In our school, we declared environmental stewardship as our advocacy and have implemented various programs to reduce, reuse and recycle all types of waste materials. We have also conducted massive tree planting, and have helped in waste segregation in selected public schools in our city. But we can only do so much because we are primarily a teaching and learning community; it should be everybody's business...but I would like to appeal that everyone should be actively involved in this campaign to save mother earth. Let us not just be shocked...let us also DO something concrete! I hope I can count on every Mylotter to join in on the campaign. Every little deed to save the environment counts a lot. The time to act is NOW!

I'll have to find this report myself since a link was not provided.
I'm surprised there weren't any responses to this. (For the sake of efficiency I'll just react to whats posted)
I mean, 50% of fresh water fish lost in the past 20 years eh. I'll definitely need to check into that one. But I've seen reports where other fish and shellfish are actually repopulating for the first time in several years.
The amount of land is definitely in large consumption in some areas. In others however, there isn't that much land to begin with so a synergy and more efficient use of land obviously occurs. In other places though, the societal preference is toward very large houses on incredibly large lots (most of which the people don't even use). I will say that those who earn the money, have the success or those that use the land should not be prevented from doing this.
The earth can only support 1 billion people? Careful with this one. What should be proposed here? Its 6.6 billion people, close to 7 billion. Projections put the population close to 9 billion in 2050. While I agree more efficient technologies should be researched and employed, it almost seems like this population point (along with the food and land point) leads to some rather grim suppositions for solutions...

You are somewhat right in your views , but you know we need to control now or else we will see our future generations in danger , as per now we are pretty safe , but what is left after say 200 years , has anyone thought of it , we are just entering a oneway dark tunnel from where there is no return.
and regarding the link , i read it in a local newspaper "Times of India",you can check it out if you get it in the net.
anyways thanks for your response.

Yes i believe that mother earth is in danger as of these days she could not recover the resources that human needs for the daily cycle of their life.If we never aware of these resources that we have to be taking care of and aware of everything that mother nature has given. Our next generation will suffer for everything what we have done for now.

From what I've "heard" not just the fresh water fish is in danger also the petrol and other important resources are about to end soon which is very alarming but the people who rule the world don't seem to care that much about it since these are still enough for them until their end of their lives .But this will affect the next generations so bad and also the young generation who doesn't seem to be aware of that. It's sad because we can't that much to change the situation but of course it worths to try.

we can't change the situation working alone , but we an definitely work together as a team and change the world , we can bring awareness among the people , and tell them to use those resources which are renewable , rather than using stuff like coal, petrol, wood etc.
we should atleast try and give our best effort.
thanks for your reply.
