I am sorry.Do you have more than one t.v.? I hope so.I don't have kids but I know my mom didn't like all that I watched as a kid, but thankfully, we had more than one t.v. so she didn't have to see what I was watching.

If there's a cartoon that I don't want my son to watch, I've directly told him so. Sometimes, he asks why and explain why I don't think he should be watching it. I've been doing so since he was much younger. When he was 4, I would switch on the T.V. and put on the show that he could watch. As he got older and knew how to operate the remote control, I told him what he could and could not watch. Sometimes, he does watch shows that I do not approve of when he thinks I am not around but most of the time he has been good about it.
We have 5-6 cartoon channels and many of the cartoons they show are not appropriate for kids my son's age. So, we have a huge list of cartoons that he is not allowed to watch. Even if I haven't told him, my son is now able to judge which cartoons I would approve of (maybe because I have been giving my reasons).

Actually I like Sponge Bob. I can't remember what the name of one is that my granddaughter used to like but it featured three little bubbled girls solving crime. I didnt like that.

Lifez, you did it WRONG!!
Your supposed to either forge a video with spongebob drying up, or don't do it and say something else. I hear, the home planet excuse works with some cartoons.
********
That one creature: Spongebob you look like you have something to say. Do you?
Spongebob: Yes I certainly do!
Spongebob (frozen frame and different voice): "I have to go now. My planet needs me."
*dark stillframe reads:* Spongebob got lost on his way to his homeplanet.
*********
What...?
What....!?
Come on! It was funny! =D

LOL I dont really get sponge bob and I think its more geared toward adult like jokes and stuff. I used to watch it with my friends son when I would sit with him til his dad got off work. I sort of liked it, it made me laugh. I dont watch it when I dont have a kid around though! lol
I also didnt mind watching Jimmy Neutron with him either. He really liked those two and we would sit and laugh. It was kind of fun with a 5 yr old. lol

I don't like him either. I would not let my kids watch him much. He is so annoying.

That is so funny, I love SpongeBob!! I raelly can't stand Jimmy Neutron or Avatar, I don't let my kids watch either one unless I am cooking dinner or doing something in anothre room. I don't even like hearing it on the TV...I don't know why they just rub me the wrong way =)

Neither of my girls have really gotten into the watching tv stage since they are 18 months and 2 months old..
But I do remember when my brothers were little.
Andy always watched Barney, he always knew what time it was on even before he could tell time! Then when he got alittle older, he was obsessed with Wayne's World. One day, he watched that movie for 6 hours straight until my mom had me hide it while he took a bath!
Dakota is also into SpongeBob and I don't know why!

Why cant they enjoy cartoons they like? what do you have against spongebob? I dont get parents who wont let there kids watch a certain cartoon just because the parent doesnt like it.

Spongebob was made for younger kids but, a lot of the humor in it you have to be older to understand. I don't feel that this cartoon is really appropriate for younger kids. Some of the episodes have so many adult themed jokes or plots that little kids don't understand. My son loves spongebob but, I have some on DVD that I choose the episodes I know he will understand and that are appropriate for him.
He also loves all the Shrek movies which is ok and the Little Mermaid lol.
